Jeff Thomas...Chronic Traveller

Delving into Philadelphia with fresh eyes I spent a day talking to people around the city. The interviews were fun and spontaneous, and no, you can't really sleep in the Museum of Art...the head of membership made that up, as I have knack for getting strangers to go along with me!

This is a good concept; you deliver the segment with humor, ease and information/education. I’m from Philly originally and it was cool to visit over the net. Best to you.

I don't really have that it in me. So naturally I loved your entry. Because you let me live the life (for 2 minutes) that I don't know how to live. Plus I love street food and listening in on other people's conversations.

Great job. Very fun to listen to. Not a chore like so many others I've heard.

Also good work on the x-wing fighter raising.

Dear Jeff, Really good mix of sound and facts or at least pseudo-facts. Actually wanted to hear more of this. I'm ready to go have a nap in Philly after I eat my cheese steak. And if you like cheese, give my 2 minutes a listen at www.publicradioquest.com/audio/user/6151

Although I'm a Braves fan and hate to see a Philly score a home run, Jeff definitely scored with this one. Fun concept. Great delivery. I appreciated the placement of sound elements in this piece -- especially the left and right audio in the battle of the Philly Cheese Steaks. (I know that's more of a production issue and not a hosting issue, but it all works together.)

What many people don't realize is that Jeff was not only eating a cheesesteak while talking, he was juggling and playing knee-cymbals, too.

Win it all, Jeff!

Well edited, great voice. He sounds a lot like an FM morning deejay, but clean. However, the speed of diction is a bit hard to follow, especially with how much stuff occurs.

Said all the right things. Won't the public luminaries be delighted? :)

You have the gift... the voice, the pacing, the wit. I bet you would make a good performer too.

That was brilliant. And I love anything that makes talking with your mouth full sound good. Everything was charming and irresistible. Damn.

Thanks so much for the comment, Emily. And what a crazy story about Nepal! Yeah, I don't know what you should have done, either! Maybe there's something in Emily Post, or Dale Carnegie about that...

I've had some weird stuff happen while traveling, but that kinda takes the cake!!

I had a lot fun listening to your entry! No need to wish you luck. You're the hostiness-ness. Where's our next trip going to be?

But chronic has to go.

Thanks to druggies, chronic has another meaning...

You don't think word change their meanings, just ask all the gay tarantellas.

Jeff captures a whole side of Philly that I want to know!!! Wow, this is great. I felt a connection to this awesome city without even being able to see, smell, touch or taste any of the experiences he communicates in this 2 minute audio piece! Jeff, could you PLEASE go to Tahiti next? I REALLY need a vacation and just can't get away right now. This might just be the next best thing!

Wow, Jeff, you could actually BE Public Radio's Next Great Host. Go figure...

Submitted by RFrohlich on May 11, 2007 - 1:54am.

Polished with some great elements... conflict, humor, location recording, real people. I enjoyed it.

Submitted by LindaLowen on May 11, 2007 - 1:05am.

I was there! I felt, saw, smelled, heard, tasted it! It's been years since this armchair traveler actually visited Philly, but you brought it back to me in under two minutes! I hope your chronic condition continues in Round Two!
