News 3.0

News 1.0 was the time of the Fairness Doctrine, when the law required equal time for opposing sides of an issue.

News 2.0 is today's time of 24 hour pundits and info-tainment.

News 3.0 is my dream of a time when news provides deeply researched information and inspires people to action.

It falls to the enlightened, and the intelligent and the sane to take responsibility for the deluded or doltish or insane.

News 3.0 can't come soon enough. Nice concept. I like this entry a lot because it is written and read well, in addition to touching on some "truths" I hold dear to my heart. I am a news junkie, and I left newspaper work because I was unsatisfied with the shallowness of the content. I wanted to research more, ask more questions, relate more local situations with national/global issues. But, there was never enough time/money/space/interest. I would love to hear your "tenacious" hosting. Good luck! I'll be listening for you.

I like that attitude you bring and you have that Terri Gross, Diane Rehm feel. I give you five starts because of your talent and intention, but "inspire to change," what do you mean by that? Inspire others to listen and hope they get something out of it or your own actions? That's a tricky slope.

Thanks for your comment on my entry. I guess I should have been more clear. When I say "inspire people to change it" by It I mean the events we report. I think too many people think its good to know what's going on, but they very rarely get involved with changing the outcomes of events. I want to encourage people to get off their couches and into society and actually DO something to change the world. To be active rather than letting a small few be the active ones.

Thanks again for your comment, I really appreciate it.

I love your earnestness. Substance and truth and honesty and in regards to media is SUCH and important issue. It sounds like that is something you'd fight for. Thanks you!

Nice sample of hostiness, and I like your ideas about what a good host can and should do!
