“Up Next” is a comedy series that takes itself seriously. First up—Radio Biography with Nigel Blackthorn. Wide ranging topics and provocative guests. Excerpts: From an interview with the discoverer of the world's oldest man and, up next, a woman descended from Casanova. www.RadioBiography.com

...that no man or woman on PRTQ has done thus far - you've intrigued me to the point of exasperation. I need to hear more, and yes, I've bookmarked radiobiography.com. It's incredibly thoughtful comedy/commentary (c'mon, there must be a blended word for that) and it makes me think of what Peter Schickele (I know I'm spelling that wrong) did with classical music - that's what you're doing with the interview format. You've got the street cred to pull it off - so I hope the powers that be move you forward so the intrigue can continue, or be resolved.

Craig, you are a knock-out. This is very funny stuff. Engaging and makes me want to continue listening. As I used to do when radio was host to the likes of Albert Brooks and the Firesign Theater.

I hereby unsubmit my submission as I submit, submissively, to your massively mentionable missive.

(and thanks for throwing a bone my way . . . you are kind, as well as funny)

This is just a perfect mix of serious and silly. Do you really have a website where we can hear more? It seems to be defaulting to a place holder at the moment. Great work! Look forward to hearing more. Jill

A beautiful and subtle blend of humor and wit. This is a new take on a classic radio interivew, giving it new life by adding a twist of comedy. I can't wait to hear more and look forward to hearing you on NPR.

Keep me posted. I want everyone to listen to this show! You were terrific, as was your talent.

Man, ape, chimp? It's an interesting challenge. I've told this before, but as I was laying in bed one morning, my 6'2", Native American husband was standing there naked with his new paunch, starting out the window at his garden. He was leaning over, resting his giant knuckles on the window sil. I thought to myself, "Ah, yes. Proof of evolution!"

I love to chuckle. Just that little smile that pops up and has it's own voice. Whenever I chuckle, my 5yo daughter always wants to know why. She doesn't yet understand the art of wit, irony and subtlety. You, however, do. I really liked your piece and would like to hear more like it. Excellent job.

Many who perform in this genre mistake wa-ha-ha-ackiness! for humor.

I think that you've struck the right balance. I was genuinely amused and would be very happy to listen to more. I have no idea what the judges are looking for, but I hope I have more opportunies to hear you and your team.

You may find common ground (with far less humor) in my entry, Timing Is - Everything.

Best of luck!

This entry is (successfully) one of a kind. What a hoot!

Side note: Your interviewee in the first half sounds a little like Peter Schickele.

Hi,
Thanks for the note. Yes, it purposely blurs line between and fact and fancy. That's Nigel's specialty--he takes it all seriously but unfortunately runs into guests who are either self-deluded or just fakes. Believe me, it's ALL played for laughs. -Craig
