A Work in Progress
Hey, I enjoyed your entry. You made me smile.
I have to tell you something funny about your screen name.
I am blind and use a screen reader and some times it says things wrong. Some
times it says funny things too.
Your screen name is one of the funny times.
It pronounced
isthisthingon
as
isthisthingIN
I am use to it so I read it a letter at a time.
It's cute either way.
Go listen and read my bio.
Leave me a comment.

Now that's funny. It just is. And per the marrying thing I'll try to send my single friends your way.
You know, I've waited to give you feedback on your piece, but I've decided to give it up. ... "Voices Carry," just happened to be one of my favorite songs growing up. I totally got a vision of the video scene where they're in the movie theater in my head right now. "That was written about me," Ok, that cracked me up. The whole thing did, really. "Napkins." Deadpan. Great ending. Your irreverent tone (also featured in your posts in the forums) is really quirky and refreshing. While I have heard way too many self-interviews, this truly is one of the most "real." It sounds as if you were just winging it and letting your personality shine, rather than taking it too seriously and reading from a script, or in some cases, a resume. And, that made my ears, and what's between them, happy.
"What happens to them (my listeners)..." funny.

Interesting and humorous approach. I think you've got a good shot at this. Can't wait to hear you interview your alter ego. Good luck! If you have a moment, let me know what you think of my preso. I'm all fired up!

I'm not sure my audition would be my show. It was just meant to give a taste of who I am.
I am now off to listen to yours. But to be fair, I will first Q-tip.
Wow! That was sweet...seriously, I think it was my favorite entry so far. And you asked yourself some hard hitting questions, too!
I'm not kidding.
Since you ask for my opinion. I do not favor self-interviews because you already know what you're going to answer. I have no vibe from this demo and what you are trying to do.
And isn't that what the entertainment category is all about? Napkins...what no dish to pass? This is an important job interview after all.
Good luck to you. Please check out my talk entry at:

I've heard at least one other self-interview in this contest. This one is entertaining in an unsettling sort of way. Self-deprication is an important element of hostiness if you ask me.

I once considered getting a show there but a friend of mine called to find out what it takes and he was told you first have to start out by cleaning the toilets there? Human waste isn't my thing sadly. So I gave up my dream. And I've been a quitter ever since.
Not true. I got an internship there about 4 years ago in the news department. Wound up working at an on-line magazine instead, now I regret passing up that opportunity. But, all I did was go in and interview with my clips and they gave it to me. Easy-peasy. Cool station, though.

In that sense, it's a lot like East Village Radio. Huge variety of shows although KBOO had way more talk. Do you ever listen to east village radio? eastvillageradio.com
Personally this appealed to me, and I found you to be a funny guy. At first I thought, "but will the rest of the world 'get' him"... but in the end, I figured, too bad for them if they don't.

If rules are made to be broken then, comfort zones are for leaving.
Oh, oh, oh dry. Really liked it but wow, I need a glass of water, and not just to wash down the hummus!
Thanks so much for giving your opinion of Cereality!
Good Luck!
Sir, yes, napkins are needed...but also plastic cutlery, don't forget the plastic cutlery.
I say, your voice and words and such are fresh and enchanting. I was the whole time thoroughly engrossed and at various points made giddy. A 5-star triumph. I could listen to an hour, and afterwards I would be a pleased person. Nice job!
....well it probably wouldn't be enough to win the contest. But I'm glad it was you. Thanks for praise.
loved the voice (so clear, without a mic, too...) but especially loved the confidence - you're right, I wanna know more more more! please win, just so the interview can continue (I wanna hear the interviewer more than the interviewee, though - that guy had a definite Terry Grossy command of what's important in an interview).

Since I seem to talk to myself all the time, the interview could probably go on forever. Although I have a feeling I'd walk out on myself before too long.
When you get Chuck D, KRS-One and Kool Moe Dee on your show, maybe you could reserve a seat for me in the studio audience.
I enjoyed listening to your demo. Stripper Economics on Rampage Radio has taken off here in Central KY like a g-string at the Club Cheetah. Thanks for the positive feedback.

What I like about this entry is that, as something of a parody, I expected it to be kind of hard edged, as many of the parodies can be. But even though the interviewer and interviewee got off to a bad start with the whole hummus debacle, they managed to put that behind them and be quite gracious to one another. If graciousness isn't one of the qualities that makes a good host, I don't know what is.
As a listener of The Writer's Alamanac, I'm something like "touched by your kind words" but those aren't the words I'm looking for. I'll keep looking. It could be awhile. Until then, thanks again. Glad I don't owe you two minutes of your life back.
David
I like the boy-next-door sound in your voice...
Thanks Mary. I'm glad you didn't think my voice was too Mary. ; ) Although I would like to be on your show nonetheless.
I enjoyed your interview very much. Didn't sound jaded or typical. Good luck!
