Timing Is - Everything

They say, "Timing is Everything". Here we explore why. Guests join host Dan Kerman to discuss and demonstrate how timing makes the difference in performance: musicians and magicians, healers and filmmakers, scientists and athletes and actors and - you get the idea. Entry music by Mombasa Code.

When you're right you're right. And that was right-on! Yummy voice, deep concept, fun, intriging, very "hosty"

Don't forget the small town people when you hit it big!!!

Dan ... Beautiful entry. First of all, your voice is sumptuous. Secondly, you yourself have got fantastic timing. I couldn't help be intrigued by all the ideas you had for discussion & interview and how you had connected them to the subject of timing -- and how your own description of them was so perfectly timed to capture one's curiosity. I also loved all your "favorite sound memories" on your overview page. Best of success to you in this & all endeavors! -Joy

If you haven’t read this book - you should. One tiny book filled with boundless thoughts and words that will melt into your mind all about time. I love the concept for your clip!

I liked it, Dan! I would've added some humor (and poignancy regarding the importance of the topic) by ending the piece -- cutting it off -- as if you'd run out of time.
:)

If I ever run a network or production studio (and I intend to) I wnat you to do this show for me.

Please keep in touch if you don't make the final three...

Yep, I'm a guilty-pleasure fan of 24, and I find it so fun and absurd and enjoyable that they cram so much into so little time. I was thinking of 24 as I listened, not because I fear terrorists or nerve gas, but because I was both aware of the time and not aware at all. Weird, I know, but it's a genuine compliment. When the topic is time, it must be top of mind, but as you enthusiastically and expertly guide us through this whirling dervish of themes and stories and people and music and ... well, just everything ... time disappears. Or it's filled so completely that every moment feels abundant and jam-packed. That'd be a very fine radio show, and you set the stage for that quite well. Wonderful job. - patrick

You did a great job! You introduced the concept, even put a show length (which I think is just the right amount of time for it), and gave me a great feeling about how the show would sound.
And you've got good chops. Music worked well too.

Check out mine.

Your voice has this "sigur ros-esque" quality of thick, rich, full sound-- would make for great context or content. Great job.

I love it. If you don't win this contest, you must do some voice-over work. Television needs you.

Good delivery. Good music choice and placement. Left me wishing to hear an example of a discussion on timing as I totally agree, timing is everything.

I enjoyed discovering and hearing this, having found it thanks to you visiting my own entry....

Your concept is intriguing. I would love to hear people at the top of their game discussing this aspect of their performance. It's the minute details of an activity in time and space, and how they have mastered those. There's probably a lot of Zen and concentration, and stillness, to those explanations. Your voice is reassuring and warm. Although we always hear that "timing is everything" I bet a lot of high-performing people haven't sat down to discuss it aloud and examine it closely, and that dialogue of discovery would be unlike anything else on the airwaves. Great proposal, good luck Dan!!

Very good presentation. And quite the meta-show: Paying attention to paying attention. I like that a lot. And the "George Tirebiter" reference had me laughing. Guess I'm showing my age...

Thank you for your kind words Dan. I had thought about the content in advance but the actual recording and uploading was done 1 hr. before the deadline. You have a great voice and delivery but more importantly you sold me on the concept. I want to hear the show!

Dan, what a great voice you have! and I love the topic, lots of possibilities. I especially like the way you deliver the title with such distinctive...timing (kinda "I'm Terry Gross and this is Freeeesh Air"-like).

I'd listen to any show with the potential for magician interviews, although they'll NEVER tell you the truth, if we are to believe Arrested Development!
Excellent pitch, though, I hope they like it!
