The benefits of Dishonest Radio

Submitted by Ryan Weber on May 12, 2007 - 11:23pm. ::

A quick trip through my introduction to print and radio mass media and it's flexible reality created by the intimate relationship between on-air personalities and the public.

In my vision of interesting radio, the host should be appreciated, but never trusted.

Liked the writing and the voice. Topic was interesting. Unfortunately, I really want to trust the disembodied voices I hear on public radio and now I'm not sure I could trust you. You put the thought there and now I can't unthink it. Damn!

I appreciate you all taking the time to listen and giving me some feedback.

Radio really is a fun medium to swim around in, best of luck to everyone else who entered as well.

Ryan?

You make an excellent point about the subversive possibilities of radio, and it is refreshing to hear a trustworthy voice declare its untrustworthiness.

On the other hand, you seem to have a real taste for deception--whatever your motive. Have you considered the CIA? :-)

Ryan,

I gave you 5-stars, because your 2-minutes was full of everything that it needed to be to show you have hostiness.

Do you believe me?

Do you consider the possibility of a dishonest radio personality a good thing? If so, how would you use it? For satire, or irony? Or just to see how much someone could get away with?
I liked the way you read and loved the way you wrote but the point of your piece seemed a little obscure to me.
Still I liked it, and thought it a fine entry!
Good luck to you. Try mine!

Yeah, that's about the size of it. I could hear that voice on public radio, I think.

Posted a comment twice... So instead of saying the same old thing over again.. you can ignore this post unless you like Keats:

Asleep by John Keats

Asleep! O sleep a little while, white pearl!
And let me kneel, and let me pray to thee,
And let me call Heaven’s blessing on thine eyes,
And let me breathe into the happy air,
That doth enfold and touch thee all about,
Vows of my slavery, my giving up,
My sudden adoration, my great love!
