Dancing Outside the Box

My title/program is a metaphor for living an emotionally, physically, and spiritually rich life. From an unusual perspective, I hope to encourage listeners to explore dreams, pursue opportunities, create possibilities, and support others who do the same.

This is a novel idea that will meet with a great deal of interest. Renelle is a very intelligent and witty person with fresh perspectives which have been broadened through her practice as a psychologist. She is a natural born entertainer and, by the way, she dances beautifully.

I think that Renelle Massey's Dancing Outside the Box would be an excellent, inspiring program for Public Radio. I hope that she will be allowed to produce the show.

I think this will be a great show. Renelle comes across as warm, engaging, and encouraging of different ways of thinking and being. I bet she will have lots of interesting guests and as a psychologist will be able to get to the heart of the matter and connect with people. I'd certainly listen and would encourage my friends and students to do so as well.

As an devoted NPR listener, I have a special fondness for Terri Gross and Ira Glass...your show could rate with them! Excellent idea..keep the audience engaged with your voice! Go get 'em!

Renelle-you ROCK! This show is a winner.

Bravo Renelle! What a refreshing voice with a unique perspective. If we need to keep thinking and dancing outside the box, let's get a new box :-) How about forming a semi-circle?

A voice that needs to be heard! This show would be an exciting addition to the NPR line up and would attract a following.

Good job, Miss Fredrica. Loved the presentation as much as the content.

Thank-you Renelle for opening the door to this highly creative way of life. Can't wait to hear your weekly thoughts!

Good idea. Fresh thinking. Voice is pleasant enough but, would like to hear a little more variance in it.

I'm a regular NRP listener and this is just the kind of show I wish they had. This promises to really give glimpses of the reality of fellow human's lives - of people's struggles and victories. This sounds inspiring. I never thought to think outside gender-based dance leading, even though it annoys me. What could be better than that kind of thinking on a regular basis? I think this would be hopeful and upbeat, and also something that would make me feel more connected - exactly what I would enjoy. Go Renelle!!!

Renelle is a beautiful dancer. This is a great idea.

I really appreciate Renelle's soothing voice, the potential variety this show can provide in helping all people recognize their dreams, supporting and accepting others for who they are and breaking barriers for many. The format would easily invite guests from a variety of backgrounds, allow people to conect with people and provide it in an entertaining way. I also LOVE the title, i thought it was already a show it evokes imagination and ignites a playfuk wonder in the mind that frees a person up to really listen to the content of the show and receive the benefits of such potential content.

The assumption that women should follow and men should lead is obviously limiting to all - both on and off the dance floor. The Queer dance community is challenging this convention and the result is enriching dance as we know it.
What a cool idea - to use dance as a metaphor for life.
Well done opening segment, Renelle.

This concept seems quite nice and quite heartfelt. I have a short list of things I wish I had started a little younger, or stuck with. Kudos!
Good luck to you!

Excellent story. Great to hear about a personal story of bravery that also creates social advancement. I have only recently taken up couples dancing at the age of 31 as a gay male and I love it and wished it would have been available years ago.

I have always been interested in how society deals with people who fall on its fringes and I think this proposed show will be an excellent way to address the issue.

Renelle
This is a great piece. You go girl. I would listen to you. Wow NPR! I have been listening to NPR for years.
The content was thought provoking for other areas of our lives besides dancing too. Good Luck Renelle.

I listen to NPR several time a day and one of the aspects I enjoy the most is the invitation to challenge the routine and normative thinking. This suggested program "Dancing Outside the Box" would be a great addition to the polyphonic voice of NPR. Imagine how relaxing and safe the world would be if everyone had the self empowered sense that being who they are (as long as not detrimental to others)was okay. Ms. Massey' program provides a strong, clear voice for personal freedom and acceptance that could lead to happier people and possibly a healthier culture. I look forward to hearing this program regularly.

As someone who regrets not trying to dance outside the box at a much earlier age, I really enjoy listening to other people talk about their own stories of pushing themselves beyond the stereotypes. We all need to hear more examples and find more role models. I would look forward to hearing more stories like this. It sounds like Renelle Massey would do a great job of bringing these stories to light.

I take great pleasure in being a Public Radio member and listener. One of my favorite shows is Fresh Air. I appreciate the way Terry Gross's thinking and interview style tend to be somewhat unusal...one might say, "outside the box." The idea Renelle Massey has presented for a show about freeing ourselves from prescribed ways of seeing possibility is very intriguing to me. Her vocal quality and presentation are, in my opinion, more appealing than the voices of many current radio personalities. I would listen to her show on a regular basis.

I listen to NPR daily. I admire Renelle's courage to say who she is. How empowering for all of us. I would greatly enjoy her show, as it sounds like it would be filled with encouragement and inspiration from both the host and her guests. Who couldn't use more of that? She's well-spoken and has both the school and life credentials to be interesting, fun and educational -- that's a combination sure to attract NPR listeners. I also love the show title, Dancing Outside the Box.

Renelle sounds like she has the perfect combination of voice talent, a passion for the subject, and plans for where her show is going, which makes for great potential. I'd go out of my way to listen regardless of when the showtime is scheduled in my area.

This sounds pretty interesting to me. Intriguing. I rely on NPR more than any other media, and this show would fit well with NPR's multi-faceted programming. I would probably add this to my weekly schedule, along with The Infinite Mind, Says You, Car Talk, and of course Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Good idea to let the listeners help decide on the new programs.
