"Prine" Time
Brian, your entry was very carefully crafted yet there was no falseness or artificiality - your style of delivery is warm and you sound so smooth - and your writing is excellent. I've heard of John Prine but can't name any songs, yet you've piqued my interest. Good work!

I love the work of John Prine, and there are certainly limitless possibilities for discussing the work of great singer/songwriters. They are so often overlooked in the spectrum of entertainers, record labels, and radio marketing. Without the song and its writer, where would most of our great performers be? Much success to you! - Joy

Great radio voice and style. Good luck.

This is a very unique and interesting way of presenting a music program. I love it! Your voice has a great quality, deep, and resonant. Good luck!

Definately a great driving piece. I would listen just to get educated as I am unfamiliar with this person. Good luck.

Whatever you vividly imagine, earnestly desire and enthusiastically act upon must inevitably come to pass.
Think you made the most of your two minutes. This was clearly constructed and introduced your subject matter well.
i like the idea of the show, but you don't sound at ease.
would have liked to hear a bit of music to help cit the piece up more
good luck!
First, I don't know who John Prine is because he was way before my time. But, giving him one hour of how he contributed back in the day is a perfect Weekend setup. The problem would be demographics. I wouldn't mind listen to it, but I don't know about my generation who wouldn't know Blue Eyes or the Beatles. Please keep what you're doing and in overtime, you can tell my generation how great John Prine was.
Waddaya mean, before your time? He still is!!! I have tickets to see him June 16.
Here's what you do. Go to Itunes or Oh Boy Records (his own record label, a pioneer in that regard) and acquire the following:
1) Self titled debut "John Prine" circa 1970
2) "The Missing Years" 1991, the first of his 2 Grammy Award winners.
If you are not converted, I have wasted your time. If however you are hooked, there are freight train loads of additional material, most of it excellent.
Thank you for listening.
Anybody else?
I thought he was a 50-60s guy. Anyway, it is still intriguing to have a show about him. That shows my arrogance about it.
Very "Breakfast with the Beatles." Could really enjoy your voice and this idea on a Sunday morning. Born and raised in your part of the world myself.
Go Iggles!
Although the quality of material is virtually undebatable, and they were quite prolific for their short run, The Beatles didn't last 10 years.
You like my Philly twang? Can't seem to shake it. I'll have to make it my "Signature Sound".
We bleed the same shade of green. Recent years have been quite good, regardless of what the local blockheads yap. Some bad times are not that far in the rearveiw mirror. How soon we forget. Yes, go Iggles!!!
Any body else?
Not enough about you in this entry, but I dig Prine. I'd actually like to hear a show like this about Townes...
Good luck to ya, Brian. :)

I liked you too. You got the vioce, good Midwestern stuff, not stuck with my Philly twang.
Don't you think we could do a couple shows each week just highlighting different artists. There's not enough air time for all our goofy ideas I'm afraid. Of course that's why there will be only 3 winners.
Thank you for listening.
For others interested.

The possibilities are really endless with an artist like this. Between John, Townes, Tom Russell, Kris Kristofferson, and all the really talented singer/songwriters? That's a couple of satrad channels. ;)

Good luck!

Keep on rockin' in the free world.
How much I love John Prine. He's a real songwriter's songwriter, huh. Good stuff.
Love how you say "our," kind of like "arr." Such an honest Pennsylvania accent. I'm a PA girl, myself. Born in Philadelphia, raised in York and living in Alaska.
Thanks for the idea.
Theresa
is what my wife calls it. Thanks for tuning in, and I will from now on try to pronounce that "our" correctly, but will likely fall back to my true sound.
Keep the "arr." I still say "ee-go" instead of eagle sometimes. Got ribbed for that to no end here in Alaska.
TAB
I'm sure I would listen to the show as I've followed his career since the beginning. I don't know if it could support a larger audience (their loss) and I definitely think you should go for a more relaxed, less worshipful approach--I mean John's got some funny stuff in his catalog.
Erik
That was my objective. Thanks for the critique. Very helpful. His catalog represents a comprehensive cross section of the human experience. Funny, sad, serious, resigned, puzzled, observant, political, reverent, irreverent....
Larger audience? It's a stretch, but it served as a prop for me to play host.
Thanks again.
you could also do shows like-- here are songs from people that have collaborated with John Prine. And here are songs from people that John Prine influenced... Sounds like an interesting concept!
Good Luck!

Hi Elizabeth,
My description of the show included all of the above. I think it would make for a great program, but I'm not certain there are enough as goofy as me. But given a chance, it could convert some people.
Anyway, as I have said before, it gave me an opportunity to play host for 2 minutes.
Thank you for your response. If you like it, I feel good.
That was a great clip, very smooth throughout, and your voice is perfect for a show like this.

Brian,
I swear I have never before now heard of John Prine... I don't know if I've even heard anything he has written. Wow, I am stunned... you probably think I'm a cretin.
But now I have heard of him.
You sounded great. Hope you get to give my humble submission a listen.
Steve
Ultimately the paradoxes of life make fools of us all. So if we would be wise we should study life's paradoxes and confront our abject foolishness head on.
