How do I upload my entry?
A number of people have asked about how to upload their entry. On April 16th the Talent Quest website will allow users to submit an 2:00 minute MP3 audio entry using your web browser. If you've ever uploaded an email attachment or added a photo to a website it'll be very similar.
On the 16th of April through May 14th there will be a new button on the homepage that says - "Submit an Entry". You'll need to be logged in to submit an entry. After clicking on the button, fill out a short entry form and then upload your audio entry. When the contest starts and you are having any problems post to the forums and someone will help you out. NOTE: You will need to record the entry prior to submitting it. We've created a page to help you figure out the recording bit if you need some help getting started.
I unfortunately don't even know if theres a human being to contact re: my phantom entry with only a title and nothing more. Darn and I thought I was doing so good there. Is there going to be another search?
I uploaded my piece last night and the uploading got interupted (I thought I could go to another page while it was doing the uploading.) So I tried to upload the piece again. Now when I go to the title of my piece all you hear is the blurb from the PRX spokeswoman. Can I still get my piece in?
Something similar happened to me as well-- see Good grief.
I use a program called GoldWave. You can download and use it for a number of months for free. Eventually, if you really like it, it costs about $45 to keep it going.
It makes mp3 files and wav files. You can edit the file before saving, you can cut out pieces, you can increase or decrease the volume and lots of other things. But the best thing is, you pick a size (like the required two minutes), hit the record button, and you can see it recording in an oscilloscope whatever you say as you say it. I've been using it for many years and love it. And the quality of the recording is very high, more than CD quality if you choose that. Record so that the sound is no higher than .5 on the oscilloscope (when you run it, you will see what I mean).
Sort of along these lines, I keep getting an error when I try to upload a photo. It's the correct size (79x85, 16.8kb). Here is the error:
The selected file /tmp/tmp_penZn3 could not be uploaded, because the destination files/pictures/picture-1405.jpg is not properly configured.
Failed to upload the picture image; the pictures directory doesn't exist.
