As a lifelong klutz, I thought sports were meant to be enjoyed from the sidelines. And then I discovered kickboxing.

I might have liked a little more energy, but your story was nice. With a little work, you could be an engaging host.

You are interesting to the listener (me)and easy on the ears. The story was unique and like Izzy (judge) says a story must make you feel & taste what you hear. Great Job. You got my vote!

As a fan of NPR, I was plaeasanly surprised to hear a new and thoughtful voice.
I wondered where you were going with this, and actually chuckled to myself as you revealed the last line.
You certainly packed a punch.

Rock on, sister. I hope you find a sport you love just as much!

Great ending. I like how you wrapped that up. What an inspiring story, but not schmaltzy (sp?) or anything. I love that thought, anyone can change. But I think there is something else here, too. You like kickboxing. Doing things that make you happy, makes you a more successful person. I really believe this. Sounds like you do, too. Good job on this piece. I still have your voice in my head. Your tone is ... haunting. This is a really strong entry.

Elizabeth, you are so right: happy experiences not only make us more successful, they make us more interesting. I really appreciate your kind words, particularly since I am just an amateur at this.

Submitted by Elizabeth Ziegler on May 30, 2007 - 6:55pm.

You don't sound like an amateur. But I know what you mean, I'm pretty new at this myself. And people have been blowing me away with their kindness and support. It is really awesome. I love the Quest. What will we do when it's over? Ugh. I'm not going to think about that yet. However, I hope you continue to produce work like this.
