This Is News: ADHD-Meditation vs. Medication

Hypothetical news program with a goal to educate, entertain & empower individuals to find their voice & take a stand to make positive changes in their community & the world.

Your entry is really great! Not just because of the music, though, I was just kidding about that. Your voice and delivery speak with authority and honesty, with a good helping of that classic sound. Your topic and commentary is really interesting, too, which shows off your intelligence.

This is a superb submission. While I've heard many "good news" program ideas, hoping to empower listeners to change their lives for the better, this is bar FAR, the best one. I like your tone, delivery, and content. Great job.

This is DEFinitely one of the best straight news pieces I've heard! Your flow is what sells it, you really know how to dance on the words. As to the subject, I'd be interested to actually HEAR the interview with the young kid who's gone through the process. I don't personally believe in the Maharishi's teachings ("Maharishi...what have you done? You made a fool of everyone" etc), but I think its clear how overmedicated our children are, and any other alternative is worth considering, especially one that simply calls upon them to RELAX inside themselves!
An interesting piece, thought-provoking, and EVEN had a little station ID! Very cool.
And thanks for your nice comments on MY thing!

You'd do well as a talk show host. Something about your delivery that flows. Good luck. For a different twist on healthcare delivery, check out: http://www.publicradioquest.com/audio/user/6076

Wonderfully produced and a great made-for-NPR voice! Brava!

Rebecca, it didn't take even two seconds of your entry for me to get 'the shiver' - you know, the feeling that 'this one's REALLY good.' You have a fantastic radio voice that has echoes of already successful NPR hosts - Michele Norris and Terry Gross. If you hadn't stated this show was hypothetical, I wouldn't have known otherwise. Production values are top notch - I like the choice of music beds (was that Vince Guaraldi from Peanuts?) and your delivery was smooth and your writing tight and solid. You have what it takes to make it in Round Two. Good luck.

I am so all over the poker game, deal me in.

And you've played a nice hand here.
Well written, smooth delivery and good music intro.

Very pleasant voice and smooth delivery. This is a very serious presentation. Your bio says you try not to take things too seriously. I would have liked to hear a touch of that so we can meet the real you!

Hosting voice is there, production value is there, timing is there. I think that was very long opening, but it still gives details about what the story is. It was wonderful. Now word of advice: Wikipedia is not a good source to find information. Although Wikipedia might be useful, have an expert give the background about ADHD for credibility since Wiki is not that reliable yet. I think you didn't have any guests so you clumped into yourself to give the background as well. Otherwise, your hosting skills are great.

meant "interesting" stuff. Check out the Yeast Connection on this very topic. Fascinating! JG

Well, Jane, aren't you a wealth of info?! I went to that sight and was, of course, amazed. I will add this to my next feature that I run for KBCS 91.3fm. I really appreciate your comment.
I'll see if I can get to your piece.

Rebecca: Loved your entry. This is the exact thing I like to investigate with pros on my podcast www.parentworldradio.com. I've entered as well under "talk". Recently they are finding huge benefits to eliminating yeast overload in kids as well who have been diagnosed w/adhd. In our overmedicated world this is interested stuff. Good luck!

I just listened to some of the other entries. It just sounds too good. You really work for NPR, right? I think you should have randomly babbled into a mic for 2 minutes. You's just too good baby. In all seriousness don't forget about the little people (like moi) when you are sitting in the Ivory Tower speaking into your sapphire encrusted palladium microphone. You are on your way. Much luck, success, respect & anticipated destiny.

BTW your voice is on point in this read. Please use the same approach on your work @ KBCS. Then you will have a living, breathing, & seductively righteously pimping position of powerful possibilities. Piece.
