I've spent over a third of my life convincing myself I have a future in engineering, having abandoned my original passion for theater and the performing arts. It's only recently that I realized that I never left theater: I've only been acting the part of an engineer all this time.

That you seem to have realized/remembered where your original passion and excitement came from! No one should feel trapped by their first career choice!
Nicely paced piece, a voice with lots of character!
Good luck to you!

At least you weren't pantomiming the part of an engineer this entire time instead.
