I don't see that your file went through. my guess is either that your file might be too big, in which case you look at the info below about the specs. Either that or your internet connection might be cutting off. Uploading shouldn't change the file so it should sound the same way as it did when you converted it. If you want to listen to it after it has already been converted (but while it is on your computer), you can listen to it through windows media or any other regular audio program. That would just be to check the conversion.

I don't know how large your file is but if you can email it I or someone else could probably convert it for you. my gmail account has a pretty high amount that it can receive although wav files are big.

Good luck. you still have about 3 and a half hours to figure it out!

how big is too big? shouldn't they all be about the saame size if they are mp3 and 2 mins long? it is 1.8mb as an mp3 and it was 645kb as a .wav

the conversion went fine as i can play it on my computer with musicmatch. however, i have no confirmation that it is available for the contest. i have been supplied no link to it as you people all seem to have to yours.

Mine was 1.83 MB so you are within the range. I don't know what you should do. Maybe register it on another account. Or you might try going to a different computer (like at a library or a kinkos) and see if it will upload there.

I would just try posting it again. and then try different ways of posting it until you succeed.

those wer nice nuggets but absolutely not immediately helpful. no one has managed to tell me where is my audio file? how do i "call up" my audio page? in my profile there is no link there.

i don't think it is up there yet. you might want to try again and then ask people after doing that.

Good luck!

If the questions are not showing up then they're in the system already. You can breathe knowing that's done.
MP3 audio: I don't know which program you're using, but if there are selections for bit rate, pick 128... for sample rate, select 44100. That might do it.

i "believe" i have managed to upload my audio, but i expected preview to actually do that - allow me to preview it. how can i now check my audio. remember, it sounded fine before i converted it, but now? who knows.

is there a delay before my submission is available for listening? if so, will they send me a link to it?

The icon/button for my audio appeared immediately, but since I was at the library, I was unable to test it. When I got home, 2 hours later, there was a comment, so I'd say that IF there's a lag, it's under 2 hours.

i think the key to knowing is that you can a 'congrats' message instead of the dread flash error message. did you get that?

i have no idea unfortunately. i have never seen a system designed like this wherein i can't find my own entry, or verify that it is submitted, or even get help from a support person. i tried searching on my title but to no avail. any suggestions? can you find my entry? and vote for me while you are at it - lol.

Advice nugget #1: avoid sharp objects until you get your first comment.

Advice nugget #2: many folks put their audio file url in their signature (call up your audio page, copy the url, go to my account and edit, paste into signature box). If you do that everyone can just click on your comment and listen and vote and you'll win.

Advice nugget #3: don't ask for help - it's not helpful. at least, not today.

Advice nugget #4: 'points' are not votes, and at the moment don't mean anything. later, they might mean you get a gift, or something, but they are NOT votes - don't get upset over them.

Advice nugget #5: did i mention the sharp objects? verrrrry important.

The PRX/PRTQ people may be overtaxed today, but there are people here -- visitors, other contestants -- who are willing to help out anyone they can. We want everyone to have a fair shot and to be able to get their audio uploaded and in people's ears.

I meant, don't ask for official help - the message boards are wonderful.

did you upload it twice? (wink!)

I spent over 12 hours on this problem (the file conversion) and ended up begging a friend to convert it for me. Apparently, if you have iTunes, you can do it there (see the FAQ for the instructions). If you don't have iTunes or a friend with hi-tech equip, you're sunk.

As for the essays - good question! I was wondering that, myself! Where did it go? I thought mine was blasted into the ether when I got my flash error message, but I was never offered an opportunity to re-do it.

I went to your 'room' and there wasn't an audio file there - why don't you upload it again, since the deadline looms. If you already have one uploaded, it won't let you do it twice.
