Naptime Comes to the Rodeo

The danger. The cowboys. The glitter. We all have an idea of what a rodeo entails. But there's a little-known rodeo event filled with chaos, tears, and mud on the face.

I thought your entry was fantastic! Your delivery is pitch perfect, light and honest. You definitely have a keen eye for humor and great writings skills. I can imagine stick horse riding becoming the next big nostalgia adult sport, like dodge ball.

Hey, I loved this. I live in a town that hosts the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo each year, when we get invaded by cowboys and rodeo queens -- "the glitter girls." It is my favorite week of the year. It is such a scene, with a HUGE following. I got some great stories from the rodeo when I worked our local paper here. But I really loved HEARING your story. Nice audio. You did a great job. I love when you do the play by play of the kids. This is simply one of my favorites so far. I will be surprised if you don't get to the next round. Great work.

I'm generally not much for rodeo, but you found a perpective to keep me engaged and laughing 'til the end.

Nice work, and good luck!

You reminded me of a rodeo I saw in Jackson, WY two years ago. It was a blast... Much better than the ones I saw when I was a cub.

The Jackson rodeo didn't have a stick horse race. it had the kids get out in the patch and try to get the flag from a crazy-scared pig.

More than one 5-year-old toed-in to the loose dirt and bit the dust. But, given that there were a hundred tots blasting around inside the rodeo patch, the pig eventually got de-flagged.

I truly enjoyed your entry. I loved every minute of it.

Jennifer, you put the zip in Miracle Whip. And don't feel bad; those kids deserved to be face-planted. Well done!

This is what you have Jennifer. There isn't a person in a million that would have sought out the interview with the 6-year old stick rider. This is hostiness.

Fantastic! A sound report laden with all the important attributes; face-planting children, rhinestone belts, corn dogs, drunken archery, rodeo clowns, and the ancient mythical beast, the mighty stick horse. Thank you so much!

Great topic choice. Terrific sound editing.
you found an interesting topic and conveyed
a sporting event entirely by sound. That is quite impressive. Thank you.
