The Angry Waiter

The Angry Waiter is a fun, informative, behind-the-scenes look at the restaurants, bars and public houses that serve as our homes-away-from-home.
Come on in, grab a stool and meet the people who make America's restaurants and bars buzz.

Hi Everybody,

Thanks for your support. The comments were great, very encouraging.

There's a lot of talent out there. Lots of people with great ideas. It will be interesting to see who actually wins this thing.

Thanks again,
Don

I could have been on your show last night. Had this table come in...20 people (8 of them kids at another table that I babysat) and rang up a $625 tab. I got a verbal tip. They told me how fabulous I was..."best service ever"...la la la la...and left me $75. Gee, thanks. It was my pleasure.

I love your idea and delivery. I really am sorry that I didn't find it in time to vote.

Great title, great concept, great voice! Listeners who have worked in the service industry will definitely be able to identify, and it should be a real eye-opener for those who haven't. Can't wait to hear more!

Love the idea. As a consumer with no restaurant experience, I am anxious to hear the perspectives from the other side of the bar. Good luck!

Perfect idea! I have worked in various waitressing jobs, from family restaurants to upscale dining...all have stories to tell! Both those in the business and those who just visit the establishments will be able to relate. Beautiful voice, too. Good luck!

Excellent voice, style, and content. This also could be syndicated in short form as well. Awesome Idea!

Very novel idea! Great voice, and an intriguing title--should catch attention from many listeners. Just think of the volume of people who are in the hospitality industry who will embrace every moment.

I have a lot of experience in the service industry and am thrilled to finally hear someone talking about issues that affect people like me. I hope you win! I'll be listening for your show! Good luck and great voice!

Seriously, though, that's a fun concept for a show, and I DEFinitely can't think of any others like it. Could definitely find its own niche. I hope you get a chance to make some episodes, I'd love to hear what your format was like!
A fine entry, quite creative.

Great idea, Don. I didn't want your audition to end. Hope to hear your show on a regular basis soon. Regardless whether you win this contest, you should do this show anyway!

Wow...I'm learning so much on this site!

Seriously, you sound really, really good! It's a terrific idea for a program. I'd listen. There's such a plethora of restaurants, chefs, waiters in the Chicagoland area you'll never run out of material. Maybe from time to time you could do a spot on "angry busboys".

Good job!

Love your voice, love your show idea. The title cracks me up too. My friend worked at a diner in Dayton, and the grumpier he was, the higher his tips. Go figure. Great job - 5 stars and a big tip for you!

You are going to have so much fun with this, it makes me jealous. I have no higher recommendation. Don't forget me when you're rich and famous: When I try out a new restaurant, I always sit at the bar. As you no doubt know, that's where you find out what's what. Good luck!

All three of my girls have worked in restaurants with bars to work their way through college. They've all had great stories to tell. You're voice is perfect for radio and I don't think you would ever run out of funny, sad, or very interesting stories that would involve a majority of the listening audience.

This is a topic that everyone can relate to in some form. I have worked in the service industry for many years and realize that there are countless unique and entertaining stories to hear. You also have a great radio voice, good luck!

I worked in a few restaurants while I was in college, and each one was different yet the same.
It's like being in a sit-com. Good luck, sir.

I have heard incredible stories of "the life behind the apron" from lots of friends and acquaintances in the food industry - I think it's time that everyone got to hear these stories.

Good Luck Donnie!

Don,

A great subject and one that will get people talking. My experiences as a waitress were some of the most terrifying moments of my life. I learned it's a performance art and either you have the talent or you don't. Yes, bars and restaurants have become our home away from home, or for people like myself who rarely cook at home, an extension of our home, which is why I always tip 20%, unless something truly unconscionable goes down. I liken bartenders and waiters nowadays to the hired household help many middle class people could afford to employ a 100 years ago. If paid staff were cooking or serving up drinks for me in my home, I would like to think I would treat them well.

Good luck.

Mary
