Shameless Self Promotion Take 3

Submitted by publicradiogod on May 14, 2007 - 8:16pm. ::

I made 3 different versions of my 2-minute entry. This was recorded early and had the most relaxed feel to it. Although complete, shameless self-promotion is not my forte, this entry was unscripted and honest...somewhat of a pledge pitch for myself. www.activevoiceradio.com

Great voice, great resume.

So what's Tommy Chong really like? :-)

MANY thanks Dave! RE: Tommy: Well...I have interacted with dozens of celebrities over the years for radio/podcast interviews and for a former job running a jet charter service. After hanging out with him in San Francisco and doing three interviews with him, my personal take is that Tommy is certainly one of the most genuine human beings you'll have the chance to meet. This may sound cliché...but Tommy truly is one of the hardest working people that showbiz has ever seen. Comedians have the toughest jobs in media, bar none. Tommy has outlasted thousands of wannabes and "one week" stars with consistent writing, performance and presence. His book the "I Chong" surprised me be being so damn real and funny... After his stint in prison along with an accumulation of years, Tommy has achieved something akin to the western world's version of enlightenment. He's infinitely approachable, dedicated his family, doesn't take any shit and loves to laugh. His take on America is unique and it's a lot of fun to work with him every time. If all my guests were like Tommy I would have much much less editing to do!

I would "really, really" like to hear your voice added to the list of content-driven radio show hosts who already have nationally-syndicated public radio shows. You have showed a lot of commitment to the medium over the years, from the sound of it, and you deserve a break. Good work and Good luck.

I think this submission SHOWS as well as DESCRIBES your commitment to the format and style of public radio as it has been. A smooth voice and an expert opinion.
A fine entry! Good luck to you, sir.

Well, you're up against some novel and quirky submissions, and you're throwing a strike right down the middle. Obviously, you've got the chops. I can't help but wonder, listening to you, what the designers of the competition are looking for in such an "open audition." In other words, it's hard to figure whether a seasoned pro is at an advantage or a disadvantage, here. For a visual analogy - you're like a classically handsome movie star - but is the director looking for an anti-hero type? Damn if I know.

Excellent, ultra-hosty submission - 5 stars from me.
