The Check is IN the Mail

I host a radio program that features novelists, songwriters, and people from all walks of life discussing everything under the sun common to the human experience. The entry is just my thoughts on how we all mean to send 'the check' but how the details of life distract us.

Hi Fellow Radioites:

Thanks for your comments on the pledge drive spot for NPR. Now, the real fun was the fact that in uploading my pages to the NPR site everything was frozen and then when it returned to the main page, everything - and I Mean everything was lost. Which gave me less than 10 minutes to create anything audio and answer questions again. Oh, what fun! So ten minutes to closing I punted and tossed up the pledge drive - The Check's in the Mail.

So much for that outake of an interview with a pulitzer winning author and all those funny lines.

Great work all over this site. I'm amazed but not surprised at all the talent and passion in this country coast to coast.

For those of you interested in supporting independent radio and freedom of the airwaves at large, you might want to check out - Local Community Radio Act of 2007 - a bill proposed before congress now at: http://prometheusradio.org/media/local_community_radio_act_of_2007.pdf

Until I hear you someday soon on NPR - you can find me telling stories, interviewing authors and everyday notables at www.radiofreenashville.org -every Saturday 4pm Central.

All my best as you pursue your radio dreams.

I'm pledging, I'm pledging! They should send this clip out to all the stations to use during pledge time. I don't believe I've ever heard a better one.

River,

Your so good that I'd love to hear about other topics, other than how NPR is like the dog food you never paid for.

I’ve come to see that the ultimate source of all human anguish is that we are finite beings sentient of infinity.

Whether you win competition or not, NPR needs you. This was wonderful! Luck to you.
