The Watercooler
As a writer, I incorporate everyday life with issues that are on the national scene. Women’s reproductive rights have taken a front seat at both the 2008 Republican presidential candidate debates and my everyday life. Who really controls a woman’s right to choose what she does with her body?
This is a powerful message, and you delivered it well. It is amazing to me that your doctors won't let YOU decide what to do with your ovaries. You have every right to decide for yourself what to do with your body, and I know that birth control, in many forms, makes one feel like a petri dish.
I'm due in July, and it seems like the most pressing topic for my doctors is, "Which form of birth control do you want to use afterwards?" Ummm...frankly, I'm not fond of any of my options, and at 39, I don't want to get my tubes tied yet...another suggestion from the staff. Can I just figure this out on my own? Apparently not!
Good luck!

Thanks for the sweet note!
I feel you pain. Forget what choice is right for you and your body, you are reaching an "age factor" they can't see beyond. Most doctors still work on a timetable of care that is no longer appropriate or right for women in 2007.
Good luck on the remainder of your pregnancy and best wishes for you and the little tot. Love your piece on hot water with lemon. My mother informed me that a lot of Seniors she knows do this. They keep trying to convince her that hot water is a tasty treat. :0)
