I Swear I'm Not a Hippie
I very much like your reading voice, and would love to hear more of this story. I have found that making friends with strangers can be kind of scary - last week I spent twenty minutes trying to figure out how to get a sadly demented hitchhiker to exit my car - but most great stories come from taking risks. Good job!
Great story. You have a very down-to-earth delivery that I think would make you a great host. I bet you are very easy to talk to.

I enjoyed listening to your demo as it had a lot of personal warmth to what sounds like a fun narrative.
I'd be interested to hear you again in a studio to bring your vocals front and center.
Good luck.
Thanks very much. I don't have any recording equipment myself, but I have done two short editorial pieces on my local NPR station, and it's astonishing what good equipment will do.
Here are links to the pieces made with actual recording equipment, should anyone be interested.

What I like about this story is how it combines personal experience with local history. San Francisco is so full of crazy stories, quirky places, and colorful people. You could build a show just around the city itself, and the stories it has to tell!
Great reading, by the way. We do a lot of voiceover recording at my job, and I have to say you nailed the timing and expression just right!
Sounds like you were in the middle of history.... I wonder what that would be like.

No one should, look back with regret on all that they never did: the beauties they did not see, the music they did not hear, the flavors they did not taste, the aromas they did not inhale, the sensations they did not feel.
I loved this story. You tell it so well, too. Have you ever been to Burning Man? You kinda of strike me as a burner.
Give me a listen if you like

I haven't been to Burning Man. I'm more of a homebody, but it always sounds interesting. I took a listen to your entry. Good luck, and thanks for the kind words!
Jejune, your voice sounds like that of an established pro; it's hard to believe you're yet undiscovered. Not only do you sound perfect for public radio, but your vocal quality and personality comes across as so rich and engaging that I could see you becoming a much renowned and sought-after voiceover talent and narrator across the board (if this contest doesn't pan out for you, you should seriously set your sights on finding a good agent). You're a natural, and I'd tune in to hear the likes of that voice no matter what the story.
