The Geezer Club

I went out looking for stories about why people came to diners, and found a community who supported each other and checked in on each other everyday - despite the terrible coffee.

those geezers give you star power.

Anyone else looking for geezers should know that they almost always hang out at McDonald's in the ealry a.m. Senior citizens get cheap coffee and refills.

If you can hang there, you'll hang anywhere. Nice job with the writing and the telling. I enjoyed it.

This was seriously GREAT all the way through! What is it with how great you Jellyfish are? Did you all go to some kind of school? Huh? See what I did there? A school of jellyfish? It was a little joke-ling! A bite-size pun snack! A little laugh tart!
Really, I love your voice and Q: who doesn't like old men in diners?! A: nobody doesn't!
5/5 for you, ma'am. Good luck to you! Try mine?

I think they're great cause they have everything all figured out -- at least they think they do.

You did a great job setting the scene up so when the first geezer spoke it sounded natural and seamless with the rest of your piece.

thanks!

Love the diner life too! Would you want to do a whole show on diners, or just about pop culture?

Anyways, if you do the diners thing, think, about me if you need to hire a staff!

Good Luck!

Yea! I definitely got kinda addicted to the diners... I would drag my friends there on Saturdays because I'd start craving banana and chocolate chip pancakes... My vegetarian friend just kinda looked away when we saw the pancakes being cooked right next to the dripping corn-beef hash.

Thanks for your encouraging comments (everyone!)

Nice work jellyfish! I love my local diner, too. I come in, eat breakfast, read the paper and choke down the coffee next to a long row of old "geezers" in trucker hats and tight, faded overalls. I think they come there to flirt with the wise old waitresses as well as catch up with each other. I've always thought this would make a nice piece. And it did. Good job. Nice subject and presentation.

I simply found you to be extraordinary, and I don't mean in the ordinary way, but extra-extraordinary.

No one should, look back with regret on all that they never did: the beauties they did not see, the music they did not hear, the flavors they did not taste, the aromas they did not inhale, the sensations they did not feel.

This is such a relevant piece - a universal subject - because we all have diners nearby where old geezers (and old grannies) gather for companionship. You took the time to chat with them, and it made for a heartwarming entry. Good ideas, good delivery and writing - I liked it (and you) very much.
