Could a gal feel more loved?... Regardless of what the judges say, I've got friends. LOTS of friends. SERIOUS friends who support my wacky endeavors.

My entry in the Public Radio Talent Quest
http://www.publicradioquest.com/audio/user/10183

made the top 100 of popular vote getters out of over 135,000 votes and over 1400 entries.

That means, if my weak math doesn't fail me... you put my entry in the top 7% and I am very, VERY flattered.

Thank you for hitting the web for me, everyone... and even if this goofy contest is over for me, you're the best.

And to all of you on the Auto Body Experiece mailing list, I'm sorry I won't be at the June 8 gig (have to work), but have a beer for me!

Hugs all around,

Becca

Rebecca, yours is a true radio voice...perfect for a public radio host!

Submitted by ljwendt on May 30, 2007 - 3:21pm.

Rebecca, you sound like you have been on the radio for years. This is amazing! I was surprised by my own reaction to this clip. I was expecting something well done and interesting, but instead I heard a piece that stopped me in my tracks. If I had been driving while listening to this, I would have stayed in the car to hear the end. I would definitely listen to your show!

What an amazing natural voice for radio - engaging, intimate, intelligent, very warm timbre. And clearly your natural gifts have been refined by study and practice - excellent articulation and cadence. You sound like someone who's already been working in radio for years, not just auditioning! Brava! You should go all the way to the top of this competition!

I loved the audition. You have a great "Midwestern neutral" accent. Your pacing was just perfect too. You may want to develop a lisp or something, though. It seems like public radio has a lot of folks with lisps. Maybe it's a liberal thing.

I really liked the voice & style a lot! In fact, I'd pay to hear it more often. What more could you want?

Becca, we're all lucky you auditioned. It's a true treat to hear a voice that's intimate and sultry, professional and educated, informal and proper, all in the same minute. Your husband is a lucky man (he gets to listen to you more than we!), and I hope your entry is chosen the best of them all.

Sincerely,

Rick in Duluth

If you ever host something in the Chicago area, put me on the guest list! I won't shy away from any subject. Politics? Fabulous shoes? Hamsters?

Sign me up!

Hey Rebecca -

Thanks for the comment! I'm not aware of anyone else (locally) in the mix...I'll take a peek at the map to see if I can find any others.

cheers,
Leigha

It’s not easy to package a segment the way you did, that’s a gift. On top of that, you have a voice that’s meant to be listened to. Excellent Demo!

I have listened to many of these entries. I sincerely hope the judges listen closely to yours.

  1. I hope constructive criticism is okay.
  2. You must be working now, right?
  3. Your aural presence is warmly intelligent, sparkling and engaging, with hints of "eager to please", yet it is appropriately sociable - like the beautiful wife of an close friend, remaining admirable and appreciated, but at a distance comfortable for everyone.

If you are interested, please give my entry, Timing Is - Everything a listen; if NPR picks you up, perhaps you would consider hosting it.

Good luck with your career!

THAT kind of 'criticism' I can take!

You did it and in under 2 min. You've got the gift of gab and can say it with style.

I'm only an echo in this chamber when I say, you've got a voice that must be heard. I don't mind saying it again. Keep this honey dripping, silky smooth voice out there.

What a wonderful voice. Move over Barbara Rosenberg, I want to hear Rebecca narrate the next Kinsey Milhone mystery. I want to be invited to that party.
