It stems from Karl Haas's Adventures in Good Music but focuses on rock and jazz

Tom creates very real pictures with his words. I imagined the fridge hiding spot, the expression on his mother's face at the thought of rock-n-roll. Very visual across an aural medium. His voice is smooth and familiar, listen-able and most of all, enjoyable. The concept of the show is very clever. Cocktail party topic stuff! Well done and good luck.

I'm a lifelong public radio listener - I didn't have to hide the radio under my pillow, my mother had the volume up high enough for the whole house to hear! This program idea sounds interesting enough to appeal to a wide audience. Tom has a warm voice - I'd listen to him - and I'd even send in a pledge during "Beg-a-thon-week"!

I love hearing about the inter-relationships of musical styles, techniques, artists, so am anxious to listen in to this host's program! My favorite musical genres are rock & jazz. I look forward to hearing his anticdotes, historical facts, style comparisons, & music from what I consider to be the best eras in music! The host's voice is easy to listen to, and he draws you in with his conversational style. I hope to hear this program on NPR soon!

I am an eclectic listener, and a lover of my past - the 50's, 60's and 70's. Your voice, your topics and your choice of music would pull me in as a listener. There aren't many radio shows I can truly enjoy. Yours would be an exception. You are exceptional.

His voice conveys an enthusiam and confidence that seems genuine and interesting.
Fabulous idea for a show. Even though I'm a college student I love the music of the
50s, 60s and 70s and this person seems to have a depth of knowledge about this
era that would make for awesome listening. I would definately follow this show regularly!

I'm only a moderate music listener, but even I'd tune in to this show just to listen to this guy. Well done.

I love the format, your voice, and your extensive knowledge of music. It's one thing to just listen to the music, but to also know the story behind the music makes your appreciation of it even richer! Good luck - I think you'll make a great host.

With all today's focus on hip-hop, rap, and one-hit wonders, how cool would it be to have an historical approach to a music show... especially one that takes into consideration the other 8-10 tracks on an album that are just as good as the "hit" song but never received the promotional push by someone who thinks they know what I like to hear. As for the voice? I think it real groovy!

Good luck el squared!

Oh boy, does this guy have the background to come at music from a thousand different directions. He'd really help people get inside the music we all love and understand how it affects us -- and uncover the relationships among different kinds of music. This is St. Paul Sunday plugged in (and we both kicked off our shoes...).

el Squared sounds like a great concept for a show - one that mirrors my own experience. And the voice is great. I sense a low-key but high-brow approach to classic rock and jazz, with humor, erudition and a childlike sense of wonder at the connectedness of it all.

el Sqaured has a great, easy to listen to voice. He sounds very honest and straightforward, someone I can believe, and like. I like the bit about the radio stations. I often hear my parents talk to other people that they have met from a very different part of the country who have this common bond of listening to the same radio shows and stations as teens. That is something that really connected those "bad boy and girl" types...ahh the infancy of rock and roll, how nostalgic!

El Squared - smooth, friendly, interesting and easy to listen to.

I loved his story about growing up in a classical home with a passion for all kinds of music. Tom has the breadth and depth of knowledge coupled with a love of music and a captivating delivery. I believe it will make him a "must listen".
