User points and affiliate points

I have a feeling this has been asked -- and answered before -- but I'm having trouble finding the answers right now.

Having finally posted my entry last night (successfully!), I am wondering how I go about accumulating those coveted affiliate and user points.

Are these points the way the "American Idol" candidate will be selected? I'm a bit fuzzy about the popularity contest aspect of the quest.

Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to make my first-ever audio audition tape! One small step for mankind, one giant step for a print reporter!

Daphne...affiliate points are accumalated by posting banners and links to your website for advertisment and such for the contest, and getting people to check out your site...these points mean NOTHING. but the user points are accumalated by voting and commenting on other contestants...I think comments are worth 1 point while a vote is worth 10...there has been no mention exacally what the points will be used for in the end....but I can be certain they will help in you have a few...at least more than 11! that shows both the contestants and judges that you at least participated in the contest..more than say just entering a submission and dissapearing. it proves that you voted for others...left comments, weather or not they were positive or constructive critisism, its all good. but showing your ability to participate in all aspects of this contest shows your interested in being a real host...not just a voice on the radio for the sake of being a voice on the radio. I hope this helps...be involved!

Up high on in the window. You can search this site. Key words can be further filtered to entries or users.

It is powerful and will get you to were your question already has been answered.

I sort of feel like David Carradine's Kwai Chang Caine.

No one should, look back with regret on all that they never did: the beauties they did not see, the music they did not hear, the flavors they did not taste, the aromas they did not inhale, the sensations they did not feel.

Hey Steve: Never thought I'd see Caine and Skywalker referenced in the same post. Kung Fu and Star Wars, all at once. Cool, grasshopper.

Hey Chad: Helpful answer! Let me add that the points may be linked to prizes at some point, and the site Points & Prizes may play a part.
