Submitting an entry
HELP!!!
I, too, could not submit my entry due (I'm assuming) to the system being overloaded. Because once the clock hit 11pm CDT, it was perfectly easy to get in---but the "Submit an Entry" button had disappeared. I was completely prepared and my audio file was professionally prepared to perfectly fit your entry guidelines. My hostiness quotient is very high. I tried from 6pm to 11pm to no avail. I simply could not get into the entry system.
I believe if you put forth rules and regulations then you, also, must abide by them. If you say we can enter until a proscribed time, then we should be able to do it. I'm wondering if others had this problem. And I'd like to know how the folks at the Talent Quest Team intend to resolve this issue. I want my entry to be accepted. I put an enormous amount of time and energy into my entry and I want it to be heard with all the others. I will walk it to the station headquarters of my local affiliate if necessary (Chicago Public Radio). I'm poised for action. Just tell me what to do.
Although I was eventually able to upload, it was not easy and it was not pretty and it required effort from people who were not part of the contest and who had better things to do.
I believe that the folks here should allow those who attempted to upload in time (if there's a way to verify this) to post after-the-fact. This PUBLIC contest was far too difficult for ordinary, non-technologically-superenhanced folks. It boils down to a money barrier for many, and that is a barrier that deprives us ALL, not just the individual dollar-challenged questers. Or, even the simply trusting, 'a deadline is a deadline' questers.
I'm so sorry for you. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they can find a way to let you participate.

11. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY:
The Promotion Entities assume no responsibility for any computer, online, telephone transmission or technical malfunctions that may occur during the Contest (including, without limitation, the voting phase of the Contest) ... Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, failures or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, providers, computer equipment, software, email, players or browsers, whether on account of technical problems, traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination of the foregoing (including but not limited to any such problems which may result in the inability to access the Contest Site or to submit Entry Materials or Votes in connection with the Contest).
My two cents:
The NY Times did an article on internet contests a few weeks ago. The bottom line was don't wait 'til the last minute because the servers get overloaded.
Steve
No one should, look back with regret on all that they never did: the beauties they did not see, the music they did not hear, the flavors they did not taste, the aromas they did not inhale, the sensations they did not feel.
Steve, what a useless and unnecessary comment. The woman is looking for some consolation, and you blame her for what sounds like an obstacle beyond her control. Why don't you show the same sympathy that you purport to offer on your show? From this comment, you have all the makings of the next Don Imus. Maybe you should label her a "nappy ho," too, in addition to your insinuations that she is incompetent.
