Contest as strange cosmic course setter?
Now, we all can say that we "would love to win; Deserve to win." or that "this opportunity seemed to just spring up as a perfect and divine prospect" for each of our unique life-plans. But what I'm getting at is really more of a quirky little postulate: Knowing that we ALL cannot win, for there will be 10, then 3 and lastly 1 who will be changed forever by this experience and selection process, I wonder how will everyone else be changed? What about the rest of the contestants? What then did this contest mean for them, us, me, who did not make it? For those who are chosen, it was in the cards for them to win in some cosmic way. But I believe that even the "losers" were meant to lose for some wonderful reason. I guess I'm just presenting a somewhat cliche` brand of optimism, but I believe that for some of us, a commitment such as this may impinge on one's personal greatness. A potential move, self-discovery, invention, singing career, promotion etc.. But even more so, the impact of this contest on EVERYONE who participated could lead to some sort of fabulous networking, recognition or even an alternate opportunity based solely on a contestant's submission and exposure here. Ultimately, I am writing from my heart and offering up a little positive (and cosmic) perspective for everyone to try and view this experience from. We're all designed for something different, and even once this exciting ride adjourns, our paths will forever be changed and we all are better for having the opportunity.
The process of creating my audio audition was probably the most creative, exciting period of my life in the past several months. I actually created four different pieces and then (with the help of friends) chose one.
I've been working on writing a performance (theater) piece and was having trouble translating my writing voice to a speaking voice. Making the PRTQ clip pushed me into a process of recording, listening, note taking, re-recording, re-listening, more note taking, etc. which is a fantastic writing process for me. A whole new way of writing and creating and I wouldn't have tried it if the contest didn't force me to figure out and get comfortable with recording stories.
A huge breakthrough for me. And I hope others in the contest have had similar experiences.
Think that is true.
And not just of this contest. :-)

Keep on rockin' in the free world.
Victoria,
You'd love the Philosophy Cafe. This is the sort of question we grapple with all the time.

I’ve come to see that the ultimate source of all human anguish is that we are finite beings sentient of infinity.
