to take a swim today...and guess what? there was a sign up that said "no humans allowed" WTF??? only zombies and ninjas....I'm going to file a complaint!

Submitted by RFrohlich on October 2, 2007 - 10:08am.

I hope you don't mind, I wrote my complaint on a stick of dynamite... and afterwards hung a sign on the gate that said "Pool closed temporarily for cleaning"

Darned Zombies made a mess of things when they got in the way of my note.

I'm glad we're all meeting at the swimming hole. It's actually hot here. It got up into the 80's yesterday. Alaskan tan line, here I come.

If we are going to have an outback thread, then this should be the billabong thread. A billabong is a U shaped swimming hole formed by a meandering river that changes course and leaves a bit of a curved water hole off to one side, but it mroe generally means any small lake.

about swimming in fresh water.

I only swim in the ocean or in swimming pools.

Can't we go to the beach instead?

I was the opposite for a while... When you go to the beach, or your on a dive boat... it's the OCEAN... an incalculable amount of water going on for thousands upon thousands of miles and feet... filled with sharks, crabs, medical waste and nuclear submarines

A lake or river is just that...

unless there's slimy weeds or mud... or snapping turtles and water moccasins, run-off from septic tanks and gardens... and mosquitoes.

If I can't see my feet, I get a bit creeped out - doesn't stop me, but I'd go for a nice clear swimming pool anyday (bathtub with water only touched by me is even better...). I also find the rips at some beaches a bit scary because it's beyond my control - I saw my older brother dragged out to sea when I was a kid (hey, Mum, what's that sign saying "Danger, strong rips, do not swim" mean and why is Ian vanishing over the horizon???"). Then there's waves. I'm up to $20,000 in lifetime dental care on a front tooth that went through a friend's head when we were body surfing and I was ten. I'm in the midst of a bone graft at the moment so I can get an implant which in theory will be the final solution... though that has a bit of an ominous sound to it.

Right...but for some reason it seems more clean and natural to me to swim in the ocean. It's "cleansing" to me mentally, physically, spiritually.

Lake water makes me feel dirty and gross.

I realize this is probably entirely psychological, but, well, there it is.

I'm addicted to SYTYCD. I love watching these kids try to make their dreams come true. And they're all so nice. It's kind of like the PRTQ.

I think it's a talent show for dancers--much like AI is for singers.

I live in a public radio bubble and don't watch TV enough to recognize shows by acronyms. That, and I'm a bit thick.

My gym has full cable so I get to watch crap there - it's my BSBM workout (buns of steel, brains of mush). This morning, the biggeste loser, with people on stationary bikes suspended 30 ft above the ground by cranes. Thanks, but I'll keep my love handles.
