I'm a standup comedian and I'm looking to get started in radio (old school and/or internet) This seems like a nice place to start. Any of you vets want to share some advice on how to get started?

MUSIC 4 THE SOUL. I HAVE A GROWING HUNGER FOR MUSIC and I love to SING. I REALLY WANT and NEED TO BE FOUND OUT. I write & sing music. I went to American Idol in P.A in July of '07'. It trully was'nt what I expected but it was an experience that I will never forget it made me just want to go even harder in writting and singing. Now Im looking to (HELP@PUBLICRADIOQUEST.COM)TO ASSIST ME IN MY MUSIC CAREER.

Here are two quick suggestions:

www.transom.org - a gateway to public radio production and story telling. You'll find answers to many of your questions.

www.prx.org - The "home" site of the organization that created the Quest. PRX is a place to host/share your work, get feedback, and potentially sell it to stations.

Good luck. If you have specific questions - post them here. Lots of smart folks around.

Hi newbie. In addition to Transom and PRX, you want to check out AIR -- the Association of Independents in Radio. It's a longstanding convening place for producers from all walks of the industry. It's 670 members represent a rich brain-trust that members can tap into via a daily email listserve. You'll find lots of other newbies there, too, and probably another comedienne or two. Check it out at http://www.airmedia.org
