Paul Ingles hosting an episode in his series "Our Top Stories."
In 2001 (After This American Life, Before Story Corps), I started a series called "Our Top Stories." We asked people, "If you're life was a TV Newscast, what would be the top story right now?" Here’s some hostiness from 1 episode. Episode archive - http://www.goodradioshows.org/TopStories.shtml
New Mexico is lucky to have you, and if public radio won't hear you out, academia or government could benefit from your insight.
You demonstrate a great skill at being a central voice and bringing an anthology show together, quite the host. I also enjoyed the concept, taking the format of a news program and applying it to everyday peoples' lives (if that was the concept, at least that's what I took away from it).
My top story: Man drinks 30th cup of tea, still hates job!
Ha!
Great submission, nicely edited. Good luck to you!

"All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy" - Spike Milligan
At first I didn't know if they would be happy happy good stories but thankfully they weren't (sort of like they say about Iraq-- "but you guys only play the BAD stuff... here's some candy we gave to children that didn't make it on the air!")...
they were really more like the stories, positive and negative, that don't get coverage. That is great!

I like the concept and your voice! I definitely agree with the purpose of the show and would love to hear more.

“Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.” - Arundhati Roy
You have a solid radio voice and tone to handle this show. This is in my top crop of shows. And since you have the format down, I think you're set.
sounds like a show that could be touching/serious/funny/imaginative. good luck!
Overheard in the parking lot of my local Casbah:
Man1 - "Looks like a tornado hit this place. What the hell happened?"
Man2 - "Paul Ingles was here, and he rocked the place to smithereens."
Man1 - "Don't you worry we're unnecesarrily dating ourselves with that reference?"
Man2 - "I worry more that this comment has grown excessively silly and should be aborted immediately."
Paul,
I share the others' sentiments -- well done, as always; a clever storyline -- and Katie Ball said it well -- a little daunting to think you're part of the line-up!

Paul is a good listener... perhaps that's the first requirement of a host
he offers an effective opportunity and framework, bringing out good connections without being preachy
I heard Paul's show about Marshall Rosenberg and non-violent communication and was impressed with how he gently got right to the core of a potentially confusing topic.
This piece reminds me of a quote I'm trying to track down:
"Be kind to people, for everyone you meet is going through a major challenge."
Paul, I really like your concept of making "news" personal. I'm also kind of intimidated to know you're a contestant.

Excited (and a little daunted) to see Paul in the race. I've heard a number of his music pieces on PRX and loved them. Solid as always-- good, friendly voice and an interesting idea for a show. The little clips at the end really brought it all home. Nicely done.
The idea of challenging traditional tv news is a good one, though your exact premise is unclear to me. Nice voice. I wanted to hear more from the "ordinary peoples' news voices".
The voices of the other people ARE the most interesting thing about this series, but you heard more of me because the contest folks have been saying they want more of our own voice than others on these auditions.
