bias against public radio reporters/producers?

I see the rules say that contestants cannot have previous experience hosting a national show. Is there a preference against fairly well known public radio reporters/personalities who are not hosts perse?

Thanks for the question henry, we definitely encourage hosts and producers who already have experience locally/regionally/nationally to jump into the Quest.

We're hoping we get a cross section of completely new voices as well as up-and-comers within public radio and beyond.

Thanks, Jake!

I'm not planning to jump into the competition myself, but am asking because I want to keep my eyes open for y'all.

Is Jake an administrator of this whole thing and that's why he is the top affiliate? I see that I am in 2nd place. Does that mean I am actually in first place if Jake is working on this thing? Please clarify...

Hi Woody,

The "Top Affiliates" has nothing to do with the actual Talent Quest competition, which starts April 16th.

The affiliates page tracks the number of hits that come through banners and links to the publicradioquest.com site, so as one of the first people to post a banner on my blog to test it out I snuck into the lead.

That will change soon as we start to get stations and others to start promoting the Public Radio Talent Quest.
