Hi, This is Jeffrey Adams

I believe in fiction. I believe in the truth of stories. I believe what used to be called 'Radio Drama' is a wonderful way for people to share their stories. There's room on NPR for a show featuring relevant audio theater. I'd like to host it.

I gave you 5 stars, and there were only 19 other people that I gave 5 stars to out of about the 605 that I rated. That is only about 3.3%. So if you don't make it you have my acclaim at least. Very good all around entry, production, voice, topic matter, etc. all included.

Icebox Radio Theater. That has a nice touch. You have the voice and tone to host these type of shows. You're in the hunt.

Edit: I had a sentence that was suppose to be on another storyteller.

Dear Jeffrey, Icebox Radio Theatre ... what a great name! And a great voice. Keep dreaming, and let's hope somebody at NPR hears this and votes five stars. Jill

Right on! Very nicely done. And if you have the good sense to hook up with Sleeves you two could easily rule the airwaves.

Best of luck to you,

If I win (Yeah, like THAT's gonna happen) I want to do your show. Great voice, you could sub on 'Hearts of Space.' I started listening to my local Public station because they re-ran old radio shows.

Best of Luck,

You make a great case for why NPR needs to bring back radio drama and why you're the guy to do it. Good luck!

Great piece Mr Adams...

Again, (being biased as I am) I completely and totally support your efforts to bring the theatre of the mind back to the theatre of the air.

Jeffrey,
Great idea! I loved what you said about kids. You have a wonderful voice, too. When I was a little girl my parents bought us records of the old radio show "Let's Pretend" (written and produced by Nila Mack). My brothers and I loved the dramatized versions of "Rumplestiltskin", "Jack and the Beanstalk", and many more. Now my own son enjoys listening to them, scratches, pops and all. I too have an idea that I hope will bring families together around the radio. It's a book club for families. If you would like to check out my entry, you can find it at http://www.publicradioquest.com/audio/user/1413

Best of luck. I hope you make it to the next round!

Man, you have an excellent radio voice, you obviously love what you do, and you want to bring what has been considered a dead medium back. Furthermore, you give some very good reasons why it should come back. You're not the only person in this competition to talk about bringing radio theatre back, but you're definitely one of the only people to give reasons why.

I'm interested to hear what else you have up your sleeve, and what your radio show will sound like when over two minutes long. So far, you have a very good start.

Submitted by LindaLowen on May 7, 2007 - 1:16pm.

You are so right about kids wanting to listen, and participate even more.

My kids were crazy about Rabbit Ears Radio - at one time it was the second most-carried program of PRI (second only to Prairie Home Companion), and we borrowed recordings from the library to hear those we missed. Radio drama so influenced my daughter that she auditioned for community theatre at an early age, and today (as a high school student) is a voice actor for family-friendly audiobook publisher Full Cast Audio (www.fullcastaudio.com).

Somewhere on the message boards is a forum topic which discussed NPR's lack of focus on radio for children. Clearly, your show would address this.

I hope you make it to the next round. Storytelling is what makes us human.

This is a brilliant entry and I think this might have clout. Your opening statement can make for a great persuasion. Let's see the product in the next round, I'm waiting for it.

top notch eye opener

I hope you get some notice...
get thee to the discussion boards and elsewhere?

interesting that you so effectively used a documentary style to explain what's up with fiction. I wonder what you would have done for a play version of an entry.

thank you for the education and reminder/permission to look for more theatre...

Wow Jeffrey, I was totally taken with this. I really, really hope I get to hear your show someday. I just loved what you had to say, and how you said it. Good job.
