Tish Pearlman: Out of Bounds Interview with Janis Ian

Submitted by Tish Pearlman on April 27, 2007 - 12:15pm. ::

This is a sample of my voice and style wrapped around an interview I did with the great singer/songwriter Janis Ian last year. This interview got alot of attention and I believe it's a great example of some of my best work.

You know what you are doing: confident, short, intelligent questions and a fine voice. And an interesting guest. Strong entry!

You definitely have an alternative taste in music, or at least try to interview some of the music industry's outsiders. I like that. I'm not sure why Janis Ian's voice appeared to trail off at the end of some of her sentences, but she probably moved away from the microphone or something to that effect.

You definitely know how to interview people, and you know where to interview them. I would have liked to hear some of Janis Ian's music, but then again, there's that copyright rule in the Official Rules. Nice work otherwise!

Hi-Janis trailed off because we only had two minutes for this piece and the showcase was to highlight my voice and style. If you'd like to listen to full interview please go to my show website at:

Thanks for your kind words.

I like the vigor in your voice. I almost want to listen to you more than to your interview subject.

Now that we're heading into the final lap, I wanted to tell you how much I appreciated your comment. I would love nothing better than the opportunity to be on the airwaves with you everyday! Since I have only hosted a weekly show for the last couple of years, the thought of a daily is a challenge that I would find truly amazing.
I'm up to it, however! Hope to meet you there...
Thanks again,

Hi Tish,
I enjoyed listening, in fact wanted to listen to more. I also wanted to hear the complete answers Janis Ian gave. (I know, I know we only had 2 minutes!). Very Good!

Good Luck

Tish, you have a smooth, comfortable interview style. I can tell you have a great way of following up on questions to take an interview further in a natural direction. Well done.
