Searching for "The Real Deal" at SXSW

As a first time media member at the SXSW Music Convention in Austin, TX, I soon realized that my expectations were not quite the reality of the music industry. This piece covers the turning point in my experience, and my realization of "The Real Deal" in music

SXSW was crazy this year, wasn't it? Viva Austin!
Your friendly voice kept me listening to the end. Good luck! Try mine!

You painted a wonderful picture with your voice and your words! I was practically right there in the truck with you!

You know, the more entries I listen to, the more I am drawn to voices that don't sound like your typical radio host. And I'm drawn to yours. You sound like someone I'd have coffee with, a neighbor, or a friend. And I thought your piece showed an honesty that is truly refreshing. I tried to cover Sundance one year, and had a similar experience. It was overwhelming, great and disappointing all wrapped up in one crazy week. And what I really liked about your piece is that you have the guts here to talk about that, and relate why you still loved it. Good job.

Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate it. You are right about covering something like SXSW or Sundance in your case. There comes a point where you have to realize that things aren't going to meet your expectations, and then just be in the moment and go with it. Thanks again.

Great piece, would love to have heard some ambient sound/interviews from SXSW. I love me some Fundamental — Bill Mallonee. Sounds like you have a great perspective and a lot to say. Good luck!
