Astronauts are people, too. I put my jetpack on one arm at a time, just like everybody else. I'm Janet Moore. This is my submission. End transmission.

Definitely my favorite of all the astronauts. And dreamy.

Your sense of timing is outstanding, and the triple-layering of your audio was perfectly done. Congratulations on a great entry!

Oh, and if you go by NASA Janet, do you capitalize your entire first name, or is it Nasa Janet? I'm a technical writer, so, you know, I'm curious.

... had a good pace, and was very well produced.

Thanks for making this Talent Quest work.

Seriously, your production was on point.
Delivery was easy-going, too.

YO. My boy Muscles Marinaro is comin' south to take you out. You're gonna need your NASA cronies to get outta this one, sister. You got two choices if you wanna keep your oxygen switched on: 1) Take the next space shuttle to the space station. And stay there. 2) Switch your Talent Quest category. There ain't no room in this joint for the two of us.

Cabeesh?

Wow. This was phenomenal. I love your smooth command of audio and the way you incorporated so much about your unique background (SCUBA, Boston Marathon) along with your current occupation and interest for a show. And the shameless endorsement from Ira Glass was genius.
Good luck, I am really impressed!

I love this! More hosts should be astronauts, that's a great angle to have on science news etc! Plus, an excellent use of sound effects and music. Super awesome.
Five stars if ever I heard 'em!
Good luck, try mine!

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist the David Bowie reference.

I'm technically competing against you, but I gave you five stars! I am just truthfully at awe not only of how good your piece is, but also how good a personality you have. You're smart but not introverted, accomplished but not arrogant, and you obviously love what you do. If you continue this show of yours, I'd love to hear more about your students and your class projects. I honestly think you have something great going here.

Great story - great voice - and you get several extra points just for mentioning TANG!!! Yeah Tang!! I miss Tang. Why isn't there a Monty Python style Viking song for Tang? I'll let you hum that to yourself while I drift away...

All the best!

Hi Janet! I got curious and jetted over after you left a comment on my submission. Your entry is one of the most comfortable, polished, and fun ones I've listened to here -- you've got a natural ease on the mic, and your production style is invigorating. I wish you good luck with the Quest, and I hope to see you advance. Five stars!

i love your entry, janet! what a great first line, "i go every day... twice a day." great stuff! good luck and i hope you make it to round two.

Submitted by njabro on May 5, 2007 - 4:44pm.

okay, I love your piece - of course I love it; well done! But you also have the advantage that - even if I didn't love it - I'd give you a high vote just because I always wanted to go to space camp. Always. And at least 90% of all us grown men and women fall into that category. So you get the vote either way, and I imagine you have this thing pretty well sealed because of it.

were you the astronaut on the recent "dream job" episode of This American Life? I loved that segment! You clearly have a grasp of audio production as well as your many other talents. Nice job, Janet! Seriously, this is one of the best entries I've heard yet.
