Maude and Georgie
Public radio prides itself on the ability to thoroughly dissect social and political issues, but as hosts let's remember to truly, heartily laugh every once and a while, too. To ENTERTAIN as well as inform.
I offer the following sketch as a cry to embrace all facets of funny on public radio.
It's about *time* public radio made me laugh aloud, and I am confident mdpayne is the one who can make that happen across the board -- public radio desperately needs a broader appeal, and who isn't down with some alien fart humor?

It falls to the enlightened, and the intelligent and the sane to take responsibility for the deluded or doltish or insane.
Citracel could use some help, no? Very entertaining!
Stasia
Or at least Marcus Brigstocke's cousin? (Not Python, but..)
As a MP fan, how could I not enjoy this???
Good luck.
I would like to hear what else you have...
But I'd review it.
I am going to withold judgement.
I think comedy takes a little bit more effort than just fart jokes in a British accent.

"All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy" - Spike Milligan
You could give Monty Python a run for the money. I see these two in a Hollywood movie (Maude & Georgie's American Vactation), released in the summer and breaking attendance figures on opening weekend when every adolescent boy from coast to coast buys a ticket. Cheers!
Plus, I love the cliffhanger at the end -- what will happen with the aliens?
I can't wait until the next episode.
I'll cut straight to the cheese. The time of the fart joke has passed in the wind.

Hey, I doubt it'll sell, and that's a damn shame! That was refreshingly, stupidly, hilarious!
Excellent work.

Nice work pushing the pub radio limits. But I can't picture it following wait wait don't tell me. Good luck to you though cause we do need more laughs on public radio. Check out my entry with an attempt at making you laugh - in a different, less direct way.

It's where the real money is. But if I want Howard Stern I'll listen to him.
This piece doesn't contain any dick jokes. And, my good man, any Brit worth his salt refers to your latter subject matter as 'gas' or 'flatulence.'
It seems that I've lead you astray--I was not meaning to emulate Mr. Stern, but rather those champions of (British) public media, THE GOON SHOW and MONTY PYTHON.
Pithy rather than inane.
A good mix of low-brow and intelligence.
Granted, I dally on the low-brow here, but we already know what intelligent public radio is supposed to sound like.
You're a complete loon, but I couldn't stop laughing. I don't apologize for loving Mel Brooks and I don't apologize for giving you a good score. Cheers!
I do indeed play both Maude and Georgie in my piece. It was conceived in a one-hour period utilizing my improv skillz and awesome MacBook with on-board mic and GarageBand.
