1,714 People More Important Than Me.

Submitted by Rosserford on May 3, 2007 - 4:26pm. ::

I can't tell you much about myself in under two minutes. I can, however, tell you about some of the folks that I am not.

Thanks to the internet we have more people than ever to compare ourselves to, often unfavorably. Who are some of these women and men, and are they truly more important than me?

Your delivery was clear, clever, and shared a witty take on a simple new truth about our era: we each now have the means to 15-minutes of Internet fame, yet in this electronic world it's both humbling and encouraging to learn the depth and range of those others whose lives are open to us at a finger's click. Oh, and it is fun to Google one's self, just to see!

Thank You - nicely done!

here's some honest feedback (but not mean-spirited) from someone you don't know... i find it interesting to hear about something more universal than one's self. it makes me wonder if your program would be all about you, too.

Years ago, I never would've dreamed of "Googling oneself". Now, even I have to admit there's a guilty pleasure in it....

Nice topic. Funny, too!

Way to go Ross I found you at "A Central Place To Plug Your Spot" http://www.publicradioquest.com/node/1171 and I listened to your spot then I googled myself. Well to my amazement, I'm either a young white man fighting in Iraq, a black man on MYSpace, a convict, or for that matter several other interesting characters, that to be quite frank I might not mind being (heck in one I'm famous and rich). Thanks for the insights and for posting your spot in a central place where I could find it!

Here's good luck and all the best wishes.

Ed

Jigglypuff thinks you are awesome. You were made to be on the radio.

My "natural radio talent" senses are tingling. Good job Ross. I hope to hear you on the radio soon.

You know, Ross, I could never bring myself to Google my own name. I'm afraid it would only confirm what I already suspect: I'm inaccessible, inconspicuous, inglorious, invisible and irrelevant. I need no further proof that I am now and ever will be undisclosed, undistinguished, unheard-of, unhonored, unimportant, unknown, unnoted, unseen and unsung. I voted for you last week, but I doubt they noticed. ;) Best of luck to you!

This is a quality topic delivered in a quality way with technical, subjectional, and operatory superiority.

Your individual notability is so low that there is actually a disambiguation page on Wikipedia under your name. This allows Johnson-seekers to choose either a Canadian businessman, a professional lacrosse player, or a California State Senator. At least my name goes straight to the page of a football player.

Submitted by Rosserford on May 7, 2007 - 9:27pm.

Ah, to be a candidate for disambiguation. One can certainly dream. Thanks for the very positive feedback.

Hey Ross,

I loved it! You definitely have hostiness. Very funny, too (of course!).

Ratfoo and that other guy would be proud.

It's like you're the male Sarah Vowell. But cuter with a touch more "Pollyanna."

Good luck!

I love this Roth! When you will win, I will turn off the Mexican Polka for good and only tune into your show. :) Good luck.

Does that mean his real name is Rotherford? That would be a very NPRish name.

by its horn by joining the quest, so already you're caught up with one of the Ross Johnson's mentioned in your piece.
Good luck to you!

You will be the Best Public Radio Host Ever! Awesome!

Submitted by nurmihusa on May 3, 2007 - 6:49pm.

...out there! Ross or otherwise.

Loved the piece. Very funny stuff. Serious hostiness. Absolutely.

And yes, I'll admit to ego surfing, but with a name like mine, it's ALWAYS all about me. So exhausting. Such a responsibility. Where's my cold compress? Sigh...

Good luck, you!

You have some hostiness about you.

Now go fill out your bio, before it is too late.
