Eco Echo and a brief introduction
So sorry I didn't get to hear this while voting was open. It's great stuff--a nice voice well used, super sense of humor, smart, funny, the works. I hope you find a way to keep working at this!

Just randomly found your nice comment and appreciate it - extra votes during the time wouldn't have made a difference for me... but compliments always do :-)
Deborah
...and a terrific entry. This kind of thoughtful, yet entertaining approach to 'green' is what's needed on NPR. You literally make it sound like it will all be OK, if we just pull together. Brava!
It will all be OK. ;-)
Thanks for your nice comment.

Well done well done. I like your voice and accent and the pace was perfect. You covered a LOT in under two minutes. I don'tknow how so many people have accomplished that!
And FUNNY!
Good luck
Vern
And good stuff.. :D

Shameless Promotion -
My Entry
I was searching for other green-eco shows and came upon yours!
Good job - I gave you 5 stars.
I hope our 2 shows get enough votes to get one of them on the air.
Mine is on Sustainable businesses, which is more or less the same thing.
I've started a blog thread for us sustainable folks to hook up.

That's great to hear - I'll check out your submission. I went to a McKinsey thing recentloy on global climate change, and there were some great things that people were doing in sustainable business. WalMart seems to be doing some incredible things, and the US AirForce is doing some very interesting things to lower its carbon footprint.

Thanks for the comment - I must admit I 'm pretty curious and haven't yet figured how spinach can sub for the silicon in photvoltaic cells, but love the idea that it all may lead to cheaper green power that it literally, er, green.

Thanks for the great introduction to yourself and your not-yet-produced radio show. I liked that you showed me your personality (such as 'using an Australian accent to get out of speeding tickets') rather than told me (that you're a bit... shall we say, 'irreverent'?).
Made me smile.
G'day,
Robert
I'm dead serious. Really, I am.

What a voice. Well-produced segment. Loved it! I'm sitting here staring at 133 rare cacti sitting in my livingroom. I'm all for greenhouses.

Thanks for the nice comment - but every time I see anything from you I wonder why St. Augustine wants incontinence... Lack of chastity I get, desire for Depends, I don't.

I've been wondering that myself. I hope it isn't a pre-Marquis de Sade sort of theme. Yikes. I'm changing my quote.

In St. Augustine's day, continence referred to strength of character and exercising self-restraint, especially in regard to sexual passions. (cit. Random House College Dictionary)

Thanks for the clarification. That makes sense...

And you are! And very, very funny. I could listen to a lot of you. Great job.
you promise to come to Alaska for one of your shows.
Good pacing and nice delivery.
Theresa
Hey, Theresa, I'd love to. And if you made it to the end of my submission, you know that the weather won't faze me (though the mosquitos might if I pick the wrong season to visit).

All the way to Fairbanks, baby.
You know what they say, Anchorage is as close to Alaska as you can get without leaving the state.
We like to tease our big city neighbors.

Hey, you're talking to someone who skied on the bay formerly known as Frobisher Bay at Iqaluit... with at least 6 ft of ice between me and the water, I hope. Fairbanks has to be more hospitable than Iqaluit. My fave thing there was the name of the native language: Inuktituk.
Do you get the Norther Lights there? They were so cool - very freaky and it ffelt as if I could reach out and touch them... ghostly tendrils.

Very easy to listen to, entertaining and I'm very impressed that you can say "eco echo" a couple of times without stumbling all over the eco echo. I'm also grateful that someone with your financial background is involved in promoting the "green" way of life from an entirely other direction....good stuff! No fair though that you have an uber cool accent....

Thanks Lynn - I must admit I did try to lose my accent when I moved to DC a decade ago and was trying to get work as a assistant associate press secretary for someone on The Hill. I failed. Weird thing is that the English hear my accent and assume I'm Australian and hence a bartender or nanny. Americans hear it and assume I'm English and at least 30 IQ points brighter than they would assume if I didn't have it.

Your writing is very witty and your accent is not distracting at all. I'd enjoy listening to a show about ecological issues with you hosting.
Good luck! :)

You've led a fascinating life. I hope you'll fold some of those stories into your tales of green housing! Good luck!
