The family that listens together...
I believe that Public Radio's future supporters are ready to listen now, if we can provide the right program. For a little while, at lease, we can convince families to turn off the TV, put away the video games, take off the headphones and gather together 'round the radio.
PJ AND Elizabeth,
This contest has been a great experience, mainly because of the amazing community it has generated. Thank you for listening and for your generous comments---they made my day!

You sneaked up on me there, Judy. Aren't we all so sick of the purple dinosaur approach to children's programming? I'm so glad you're addressing kids and families. It's high time that the greying public radio community considers that kids DO listen now, we just don't see there checks.
Great children's radio! I really think this is a great concept, really nicely executed. I've heard several children's show pitches here, but this is the first one I've heard that does not feature a super cheesy host with a condescending tone. You are definitely bright and energetic (things children seem to glean onto), but you wouldn't be annoying for adults to listen to, which is obviously is a major concern for family programming. I really, really like this. And, I don't have kids, but you still impressed me. Good luck!

Glad you joined the limerick thread. That's how I found your clip. I could read to children and tell them stories all day. In fact, I have many times. I love how you bring that magic alive.

I really appreciate your comments! Save me a cookie---I can't read with my mouth full!

Wait, let me get the cookies and milk.
Okay, now read to me! I loved the entire idea. I think it is a wonderful idea.

I don't have kids, but I liked this anyway. You've got a great voice and an obvious passion for kids, books, radio, music-- it shines through. good luck.

Judy... You scared the poop out of me for that 1st 30 seconds... Well done!!!
You guys are all blowing me away w/ production value.
My only regret is that I didn't know about the Quest earlier, so I could familiarize myself w/ the programs I needed to use to record/edit/convert.
I really enjoyed your entry, & thanks for your compliments on mine.-(;o)~
you sound like a cool mom!

Great idea. I've become entranced by children's books and am always looking for new and interesting suggestions for my little guy.
Thanks!

Judy, now that I know you're a WRVO listener, I have to ask - do you remember from days past Bill Shigley's "The Reader's Corner"? I really loved that simple format and his warm presence - and felt a tremendous loss when he had to leave because of ill health - and his passing was a sad day for me.
I was greatly impressed with your entry - you had a lot of fun with it, and kids do love this sort of thing. Do you remember the now-lost "Rabbit Ears Radio"?
I hope you make it to Round Two - and if not, why not pitch this idea to WRVO? I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

Dear Linda,
Thanks for your feedback and for your idea to help me pitch this to WRVO. I've never done anything like this before, so that would be great! We've lived in the 'Cuse since 2001, so I'm not familiar with "The Reader's Corner." I do remember "Rabbit Ears Radio." And we own records of a very old radio show called "Let's Pretend" which dramatized stories for kids and families back for 2 decades, starting in 1934. Those are simply wonderful. You can hear them online---Wikipedia has a link.

I liked your imaginative approach to your entry. Interestingly, I was thinking you were going to do a dream-in-a-dream-in-a-dream approach. I liked what you did, though.

Jimmy, Thanks for your comments. Your PRTQ tune is really nice, and your guitar sound is beautiful. (The guitar on my entry is my husband playing one of his own tunes.)

Do you know where the poetry is in poetic justice?
I hope you liked my audio clip. And I know, it should have been "least," not "lease" in my written intro. Darn my klutzy fingers!
