Quick Theme Song + My Four Passions

Austinite Southpaw Jones says hello with an a capella mini-anthem and some jibber-jabber. You'll want to tell your friends.

I'm jealous of the song. Wish I'd thought of that.

Southpaw and I have left-handedness in common. I "met" Dave Barry at a book signing once and noted he also was a lefty, to which he proudly proclaimed "We die faster!" I thought Southpaw might appreciate that, though I don't know why.

Well done.

I was *this* close to talking about Southpaw in my NPR blurb, but picked his buddy Matt the Electrician, since he had a brand new album out. Andy Summers got the nod, but only because he was British, and I needed a bit of Globalization (sorry, Paw).

Folks, if you haven't heard Southpaw, check out his stuff on southpawjones.com. If you haven't seen Southpaw perform, catch one of his performances at Cafe Mundi with the aforementioned Matt the Electrician in Austin Texas on a Wednesday night. It's like the Honeymooners meet Simon and Garfunkel, only without the red, curly hair.

Southpaw is one of the funniest humans I have met. Glib with something so bizarre and witty you might spew your Zima across the table, if not careful. His music reminds me often of the cleverness of They Might Be Giants, mixed with a little "The Economist" and sweet high school recollections.

I cannot think of a person better suited to entertain with music, storytelling, and just plain improv.

Here's my blurb, if you want to check it out:

I'm referring to your voice, not your legs. You are a wonderful songwriter and performer, so I'm not surprised to see you can talk good, too. I chuckled outloud. Hopefully the judges will pick you; I will definitely listen to your show!

I could very well see architects across the nation embracing Southpaw as he inspires cantilevers and negative edge pools.

As usual, I am blown away by Southpaw's unending talent and originality. There is no better singer-songwriter/whimsicologist than Southpaw Jones and he deserves his own radio show on public radio. This world needs more Southpaws!
