If this doesn't land you a spot in the playoffs, you could repost it as an online dating profile.

Not a chance. I haven't had an email or phone call from anyone at PRX so...I'm not one of the lucky .6%

Thanks for the idea, though...I need all the help I can get with the mens. ;)

You have a voice I could tune into. I believe you would actually be good at interviewing someone, and I want to hear more. Good luck.

Take a listen to mine if you get a chance:

Actually, I don't have a demo proper. I have a few old tapes off the skimmer. It's been so long since I've looked for an on-air gig, I have no fresh demos.

I had to buy studio time to get my entry done and edited...

I will contact you off site, though. Thank you for the interest. That means a lot to me. :)

Wow! You sound like a girl I met at
The Seeing Eye
where I got my guide dog. I remember telling her that I liked her voice. I played radio when I was a kid. I never dreamed that I would do the things that I have in radio. I got to interview Danny Glover. It is just a conversation with someone you've never met. I use to be a singer and we traveled all over the country and I spent just as much time asking people questions as I did on stage.
I hope you listen to my entry and read my bio.
Lots of luck. I'm glad I heard you.

Thanks for your kind words. I was just in Tennessee (Memphis) last weekend. One day, I hope to get over to Nashville and see the Opry and Ernest Tubb's record shop among other things.

One of my best friends is a fantastic singer/songwriter. He wrote a song for Emmylou Harris but hasn't heard back yet if she's gonna record it. Check him out at: http://www.danhartland.com

Chicago is cold but for me, coming from a place as humid and hot as St. Louis is for nearly half the year...the summers in Chicago totally make up for the winters. :)

Your compliments are much appreciated. Your entry was fantstic!

And, I'm still laughing that folks are either JULIE! or EARTHA! but not one person has mentioned Lee Meriweather...poor dear... ;)

Good luck to you, too.

What am I missing here? I thought these entries were supposed to showcase talent instead of just reciting resumes. Yours is very impressive, granted, and your voice is great, but you didn't actually do anything during those two minutes, did you? There's no execution there, seems to me. In other words, you just talked about what you'd like to do instead of showing how you'd do it. Hey, I'd like to win a gold medal in speed skating, but talking about it and doing are a long way apart. All tell and no show... no unique ideas...at least that's my perspective. But those seem to be the facts.

The way I interpreted the directions, and posts from PRX staff, they wanted to know more about the entrant in Round 1 than a show 'pitch' or whatever.

Hosts more than Program Ideas

Great to see the early entries. Keep in mind that we are looking for host talent ahead of ideas for new shows.

If you have show idea, that's great. Just be sure when you enter, we hear enough of you as host to get excited about your entry.

As the rounds progress, there will be lots of time to try out show ideas. For round one - wow us with you.

Good luck.

Some people followed those guidelines and some did not. I chose to follow the directions and suggestions of PDX staff, mostly. I question my mentioning of a show idea but, it's there.

Thanks for your candid critique, Cindy. It is appreciated.

Question for you,
have you ever been to a live show of "Wait, Wait"?
I love that show! We are thinking of taking a shor trip to Chicago this summer and have talked about getting tickets. Peter Sagel ROX!!!!
I hope to have Carl Castle on my voice mail greeting someday.

I haven't made it to a live taping. I'd like to go but, it sucks going to something like that by yourself. I go to most things alone (concerts, theater, movies) but something like Wait Wait has to be experienced with someone, so you can talk about it later. It's definitely a 'ya had to be there' type thing... :)

I don't have any opinion about the soap operas, but I found it necessary to speak up about one thing - Julie Newmar? I think not. Eartha Kitt, my dear, Eartha Kitt.

If you have a chance, I would like to hear your thoughts on my offering, http://www.publicradioquest.com/audio/user/8098.

Thanks, and good luck!

I ain't tryin' to hear that noise, son... Julie Newmar!

Eartha Kitt? All I can think of is her role in Boomerang.

Marcussss, I'm not wearing any underwear! LOL!!

And poor Lee Meriweather...not getting any love from anyone here. ;)
