A little about me
Hey, good job
I am amazed at how many people can talk at what seems like a slow calm pace and get it all in, in two minutes. A lot of thought provoking "stuff."
Good luck
Vern
Appreciated the overall thoughtfulness and ease of the piece. Good luck.

Cerebral but perhaps a bit wandering. You made good use of your voice, but you could also be a bit warmer in your delivery.

Dear David, Ended up here thanks to your fun comment on my entry. I appreciate each and every one of those cheeto bags you would leave on my reference desk. I think you could do a whole show just on the aroma of lilacs ... Great entry. Jill
Actually, I was originally going to use roller coasters but lilacs actually came to me at the last minute. I have been surprised how much that has struck a chord with people.
Now there's a question for ya?! Yep, we all sure would know a lot better and so would another 5,000 of us too. But wait a minute, maybe that's not such a bad thing. Maybe this site, the Public Radio Quest site, the podcast site for radio talent could become the new YOU TUBE, only be the new URADIO thang on the web. Hummeda, hummeda, hummeda?
Great 2minutes by the way Dave. Good luck to you.

with some of these other posters, you have a great style for NPR! I'd be interested to hear a podcast if you have one!

Hi,
Actually...yes I did. Last year I was a member of a quartet podcast that was somewhat dirty and fun to do. I have plans on reviving it soon. I will email you the name.
Thanks for the nice words.
David
Are you hosting a program already? If not, you should. Best of luck with this contest!!!! Very nice voice. Your hostiness reminds me of that cool guy we all know who relates well with everyone he meets.

I enjoyed this. You've got a trustworthy voice and a perspective to pursue interesting answers. I'd like to hear more!
Hi.
Nice voice, but it got to sounding a little practiced and phony after a while.
Too much REAding with EMPhasis...
Sorry, JRB

So, you never write, you never call...nice to hear your voice. You sound good eminating from my mac...probably better on the radio.
Hope you win; it would be nice to listen to you regularly...rather than waiting for another play.
You're right about lilacs; they smell wonderful everywhere except on some passengers in the subway.
Very Studs Terkel... esque? Terkelian? Terkelicious?
However you conjugate it, I like it!
Your questions seem insincere at this point in our relationship, almost as if you are mocking me because I pointed out a huge flaw within your supposed radio persona. Also, I did notice you liked my irony, though I'm not sure that I have the same definition of irony as you. Wouldn't that be ironic? I also think it would be ironic if one of us wins the contest, or if we were both made out of iron.
I bet your interest makes you a good party guest. Your show will be great.
It's funny but I think I see things just the opposite. I am always surprised to find out that people who seem very different turn out to have more in common than one might think. I would be curious to see if your show ultimately revealed that.
It's that realization that the more extreme we are from each other, the more we really have in common. Surprisingly so.
It's the differences we share.
Sorry Matt,
I had to see if you were paying attention. But since you brought it up...
Did you like my piece? Why didn't you say anything? Did you notice I said I liked your irony? What was the childhood event that created it?

Funny about the lilacs comment. When you first suggested that some people don't like the smell of lilacs, I thought, "Whaaaat?" Then I recalled a childhood memory - watching the TV series "Dark Shadows" and seeing a scene in which two children stand in a gazebo at night, and one of them says softly, "I smell lilacs..." and then the camera pans to a shot of something ghostlike. For years I was scared that the smell of lilacs heralded the appearance of ghosts. Today I love lilacs, but your entry brought back that long-buried memory.
I also liked your statement that dim bulbs might burn brighter if their stories were heard. You have a great sense of the worth of everybody, and the value of listening to others.
Good entry, good voice, good ideas. Good person. And that's what's most important of all.

I’ve come to see that the ultimate source of all human anguish is that we are finite beings sentient of infinity.
I loved Dark Shadows! It scared the dickens out of me enough that I wouldn't sleep without the light on.
The truth is that I have a lilac tree next to my house and the fragrance this past week has been really great. But I also had a roommate once that hated them and he'd never really say why.
Thanks for sharing that and reminding me of something from childhood we share.
You know Beck, for someone who likes questions so much, you sure missed a great opportunity to ask me something in your comment. You know how many questions you asked me? Less than one. Not very inquisitive of you. Why do you think that is?

She also threatened to keep bugging me to get married.....not to her......she is married...or so she would have us believe.
Once you win this contest I suggest a topic.....
"Why do married woman feel the need to nag unmarried men about getting married?"
You got my vote.
