It's a Family Thing

Looking for ways to prove my hostiness, I turned to the people who know me best - my family. I am the oldest of four and possibly the most sarcastic of a very sarcastic bunch. Comment here and listen to more at http://chrisboylan.com/npr

This made me laugh! Your family are good sports and quite funny, too! A pretty good combination and they obviously passed the humor gene to you!!!

Made me laugh and identify with you. Sorry about your brother, maybe it's for the best. Good Luck.

The entire production was really funny from start to finish. Well executed and honest. This style really works for you.

Fun concept and lots of chutzpah to take on your own family!

I enjoy the fact that other people may enjoy something I produced. The lurking demons of self-doubt don't let those feelings linger for too long - but for a second there are a few flickers of a smile. Thanks.

That's what one of the boys in my family would have had said to him, anyway. I enjoyed your writing, and I can see (hear?) you being part of a project like 'Whadya Know?' or 'Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me!'. I'm off to check out your site right this instant. 4*s!

It is fun but I'm trying to find the point...

Submitted by chrisboylan on May 23, 2007 - 6:04pm.

Yes, I stop checking for a day and get a bunch of comments. So... the point.

I'm not really sure there is one. It was my impression that the point of this round was to display one's hostiness. It seemed to be a quality that anyone could talk about, but few could prove - so I looked to other people for testimonials to my hostiness.

Unfortunately, I turned only to my family, and they're nuts. The good news is that they're also funny. So, yes, there really isn't a greater point - I grant you that. However, I'm not sure this round of the contest had a point, so I think thats just fine.

If you're looking for a show pitch, well then - how about a show that looks at how people came to be who they are. My family's nuts, and it led to four semi-well-adjusted but very funny children. On our own, we are weird creatures, but once you meet our family you understand exactly who we are and where we're coming from.

I find many people are like that. I don't understand what makes them tick - and then I meet their family and all the pieces come together. On top of that, I always think about how even if I've been in an adult relationship for 20 years, I've only known that person half as long as their family has known them.

I loved it - your family comments, your delivery and "hostiness." Looking forward to hearing more from your clan. Elizabeth

These are my actual parents and sisters. A show about family hosted by a family - its almost an idea.
