Nice to know people were out there pulling for me. This is kinda overwhelming, ya know. I liked your entry, too. I have no idea how the judges made their choices.
And great subject header. That's pretty much what I put on the e-mail I sent out to friends and family.

The smart writing and sincere energy makes me sit up and take notice and think
"Hey, surprise, I could learn about this technical stuff and it could be fun!"
I enjoyed the multi-level comments. The main narrative and all the energy, plus the smart asides I learned from.
I have met lots of scientists (and am married to one) and your enthusiasm definitely is refreshing. Most scientists have to cultivate a low-keyed approach to allow them to pace themselves and be professional over the long haul of grant proposing... So hearing someone as keyed up as you are takes us back to how people get started exploring science in the first place...
btw, You sound like Paula Poundstone to me...
Your personality is definitely passionate about your topic and you have an infectious way of presenting that passion and energy. Maybe I'm a little biased since I really enjoy science-y stuff like that. (I love Mythbusters!)
You reminded me of something that a high school student once said. A friend of mine teaches high school and his students are goof balls and funny. Back in 1999 one of them said, very sarcastically, something to the effect of, "I can't wait until the year 2000 when we will all be driving flying cars and teleporting around."
We may not have mass market flying cars, but it does actually seem true that great inventions are just around the corner every day.
Carry,
I’ve collected a few signatures on a petition that I started petitioning the judges to advance you to round two (you can thank me later).
We petition the judges of the PRTQ to advance the human, Carry Kauffman otherwise designated as C-L-K to the next round of the PRTQ.
Electronically (of course) signed:
