The Radio Bug
Enjoyed your piece... good writing, very well produced, and lots of good background sound.

Rich, very fun, a little wacky, and totally personable. What would YOUR show be about?

Keep on rockin' in the free world.
Entertaining. Good sound clips. http://www.publicradioquest.com/audio/user/6076
The only thing missing is the voice from "Amityville Horrors" giving all D.J.s the best advice of all: "Get out!" Very good! I enjoyed this.

Well done overall. Good luck.
I hear ya, i got the bite on a long road trip somewhere in nebraska. It still itches daily. Awesome story concept, and good delivery with nice punctuation in the silences
Oh yeah, I know what you mean. I've been a volunteer. But most recently I took a $4 per hour pay cut for the pleasure (the thrill, really) of waking up at 4 a.m. every day to file the day's news stories and host Morninng Edition. I just woke up from a nap. I don't sleep anymore. I don't see my friends. I just come back for more.
So hey, you got me. I'm a tough sell. But I'm giving you lots of gold stars. I could relate to your topic, you made me laugh while relating it, and I really do like your voice (but I bet you knew that).
Good work and good luck!
Almost forgot to mention this: My mom told me not to be an English major, cuz I wouldn't find a good paying job. What do you think I went and did anyway? And, I have the paycheck to prove it. At least I'm happy because I believe in what I'm doing. That, it turns out, is more important to me than anything.

Positive or negative comments do not matter, since none of *us* are making the decisions....
Though perhaps it speaks volumes to a person's character, if they resort to being consistently negative about other entries, to beef up their own - that would be sad, & I doubt 'cutthroat' is very hosty.
I have not seen neg comments left by this entrant,(nor do I care to), so I will not comment regarding him specifically.
I hope every1 does well, & takes something of value away from the experience - whether it is a lesson in how to behave, or a lesson on how to NOT behave.

Wow! Great job, great voice, wonderful sounds in the background. At first I thought someone was not paying attention to you recording when I heard the toilet flush!! You forgot to switch onthe ON THE AIR light!
I too did the recording "thing" with the old large reel audio vox, and I enjoyed making up commercials. They weren't quite as good as Garrison Keeler's, but close!!!
It IS a BUG, much alive, still contagious, and there seems to be NO vaccine for it!
GOOD LUCK
Vern
Wonder where? Nice piece, sir.
That bug is still at large! Call for backup!

Your story telling is just right for radio. Your passion comes through and that’s what this medium needs. Very tough to get this radio bug out of you once bitten. Great Job!
Very well done, sir.

A good entry, and enjoyable to listen to. I also understand the allure of the sound effects, but like the radio bug, they are dangerous. It's best to use them sparingly. Good voice and great sound, and a fun dialog.

As someone said, great chops and a rich vocal tone here. It would be refreshing and relaxing to listen to this on a late afternoon commute.
Nice sound and a ingenuious style - but do you have anything to say?
Thanks for the comments...
Actually I held back... My original recording session for this thing came out to about 9 min... I rethought it a few times and distilled it down to the essence of my 'blood lust' for broadcasting.
As far as having something to say - (and I'm not saying I don't) but to me, having something to say almost sounds like 'having an axe to grind'.
In this life, when you get down to it, we're all in the same boat, and I prefer laughter, good humor, and good conversation along the way. Maybe that doesn't come across in my piece - but - so it goes.
. . . or the bug or what-have-you. I had never done anything like this exactly before and it is such an interesting medium. I am really into movement-based expression, so not having the visual to express myself changed a lot of things. Now that I have done it, I feel the "festering" and want to do more. Nice entry. Nice points. Nice vocal quality. Don't let The Dad get you down . . .
Playful tone and great use of sound effects. Maybe the bug isn't so bad? Good luck!

I liked your use of "bitten by the bug." Very creative. Good job!
