An Exploration of the Nerdy

Submitted by thatjonguy on May 10, 2007 - 4:02pm. ::

Nerd culture is all around us. Objects or activities that were once considered part of "the fringe of society" are becoming mainstream. My proposal is an exploration of nerds and how they are contributing to the mass society. I write about this frequently on my 1UP blog http://that_jon_guy.1up.com.

Great piece and excellent delivery. You are so right, where would be w/o nerds ...Nerds aka brilliant and entertaining---which is what your segment was. Good Luck!

I LOVED IT! You do have a great voice and yes it was witty and entertaining as everyone below has mentioned. I'd like to point out that your entry was really well-written. It didn't sound "read" at all. Don't know radio host lingo but I hope I have gotten my point across. Nice job, five stars to you and thanks for listening and commenting on my entry. Otherwise, I might not have had the chance to hear yours. Good luck Jon!

I didn't know you had that there? I should talk. It's 50 degrees and raining here in Fairbanks, Alaska.
I love your entry. Nice smooth voice, clear storytelling. And you make it sound cool!

Nerds are cool. What can I say? I like your stuff. And, I'm one of those people who hadn't played video games since shooting at asteroids on an Atari, until my friend invited me over for a Wii party. I completely dorked out. Turns out I'm really good at it. Who knew? I felt so accomplished. I've come back for more. I'm embracing my inner nerd. All I have to do is go to the Mac store, and I feel as if I've come home. Great entry!

Very amusing commentary on nerds being on the front edge of society. Funny! I actually played your piece twice because I was so entertained. Great job! Maybe you could bring your guitar hero video game to the Star Trek convention next weekend?...

John, John, John,

May I call you John?

Look I don't know how you missed this, they're looking for hostiness, not nerdiness.

NPR nerdiness is an oxymoron.

You've got a lot going on.
