Bio

I’ve been in business, sales marketing and new business development, most of my career, and four years ago I got the bug to try on-air radio. I started guest hosting, and producing the shows I hosted, at a local commercial radio station. I tried to volunteer at my local NPR station, and they had enough coverage. I guest hosted for a popular three-hour drive time show, which focused on local and national politics and current news happenings. Also, I was guest host for a weekly women’s view show featuring commentary and anaylsis on local and national news, and a two-hour weekend home show. I created a business format show called What’s Working Today with guests who range from national periodical and book authors, business leaders to thought leaders who offer their fresh perspectives on business strategy, leadership know-how and career development. I created, now currently, produce and host the show on an Internet network – love the work, glad I’ve made the transition. It’s been rewarding to connect people and their ideas to others who may benefit from their insights and information. And, it's great learning new ideas and meeting people.

What's your favorite public radio show?

I like a number of shows in the NPR line-up. My favorite show is Diane Rehm, as her format and show style is similar to my approach as well. I like having dialog with differing opinions, and I'm not overly concerned with getting my perspective across, as much as, I'm more interested in getting ideas and information out to the listener. Let the listener decide whether the information has any merit or is interested in learning more about the topic.

What's your secret talent?

I have been delving into collage art. The first time I took two paintings to a frame shop, the framer wanted to know if I had bought the paintings in Moab, UT, they were pictographs. The next two collage works I took to a different framer, he asked if I had picked them up in Santa Fe, and then he asked me if I had a showing soon? I said I needed a few more pieces, which "secretly," I was surprised anyone would consider my work art, why not play along? I decided why deny I'm an artist? Isn't that what most of us typically do? How do we become, when we always feel the need to be small?

What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?

Galaxies by Laura Veirs. Lyrics:

When you sing, when you sing the stars fill up my eyes
galaxies pour down my cheeks, galaxies
galaxies they flood the street, galaxies

When we dance, when we dance eels and seagrass float on by
I'm 10,000 leagues beneath the green, 10,000 leagues

When we kiss, when we kiss
bears and boulders vibrate through the air

gravity is dead you see, no gravity
all I need is beating red, no gravity

What's your favorite sound memory?

My earliest favorite sound was music and singing. My parents always had the radio on, and I was attracted to instrumentals, especially the piano, and the voices of people singing. When I was in my teens, and before automatic redial, I was able to call in to my local radio station and be the 10th (whatever random number required) caller to win an album. One summer my dad was wondering why so many albums where being delivered to our home -- he asked if I had signed up for an automatic record mail order service. To this day, the first thing I do in the morning, while making my coffee, is to turn on a soothing instrumental CD -- it helps me to ease into my day.

Which station do you listen to most?
KNUC -- I now get to listen to World Cafe again, I'm a native of Philly and I volunteered at the pledge drives for World Cafe, which why I have an eclectic array of music.
