Bio

From AIR's Member Directory:

I am a co-creator and co-producer of the multi-media comedy website, Fist Full of Koi. Currently in the start-up phase (read: no money), the website should be up and running by the end of Winter 2007 and fully functional by Summer 2007.

I recently left my position as Marketing Manager of Murray Street Productions, where I worked on such diverse projects as Independent Minds: Peter Sellers; Honky Tonks, Hymns & The Blues; Art of the Song; Jazz at Lincoln Center Radio and Passover Dreams.

A number of the audio pieces found on fistfullofkoi.com will no doubt make their way to public radio through PRX, and I continue to be a part of the vital AIR community as a board member.

Media Experience: Community Radio, Radio Documentary, Radio Drama, Web Design, Web Video Production, Writing and Directing.

What's your favorite public radio show?

Radio Lab, by far, is currently my fav.
I like that Fair Game is taking risks, but I wish they were taking more.
Same with Weekend America, a show that is continuously growing.
Other favs: I can throw on WNYC at about any time of the day and be satisfied. I love what KCRW is doing with its online features.

What's your secret talent?

I don't keep many secrets. "Secret talent" sounds like something I would do on a dark stage somewhere: if my mother happens into this particular dive I turn red and run away and she wishes she hadn't stumbled upon my secret.
With that in mind, I have marketed public radio programming for the last 3 years, so I have a pretty good idea of what makes things stick (perhaps that's a secret to most).
Also, I can play rock, funk and blues drums with the best of them. And I can speak with several different accents if needed. Also, I'm pretty good at interviewing and not making it sound like a snore-fest.

What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?

Happiness is a Warm Gun by The Beatles (but only because side 1 of record 1 of The Beatles just ended).

"When I hold you..."

What sound is most characteristic of where you live?

The hiss of the radiator.
The toot of a boat anchored in the Upper New York Bay.
The occasional honk or car alarm.

What's your favorite sound memory?

Although not favorite, my most VIVID sound memory comes from my parents were watching Poltergeist and I could hear it in my bedroom clear as day. I was 6, and I remember being frightened even though I couldn't SEE anything, just HEAR. Just a few years ago, I finally rented it and I was amazed how some of the visuals matched what I had imagined 20 years before and some just weren't as good as what was in my head.

Which station do you listen to most?
For public radio: WBGO, WNYC & WFUV in order of time spent listening. I am also a 1010WINS junkie.
