Here's where you get to learn more. I tried to keep my entry simple. I figured that if I can let you know about something that excites me, maybe I could get you excited about it and about me! It's not necessarily an idea for a show. I just wanted to give you a glimpse into my life.

I'm Valerie, and I practice constitutional law. I'm also a life-long music lover. Although I became a live music addict in high school, I was completely consumed by music as early as I can remember. I grew up listening to classical music and The Beatles. My older brother introduced me to pop and dance music. And I have found my way through the realms of everything from hair metal to modern rock, folk and hip hop.

Despite this life-long love affair with music, I have mostly been a spectator. Although there was this one time when I got to sing with Snow Patrol in front of a sold out crowd of 5,000 people. That was pretty freaking cool.

What's your favorite public radio show?

How can I pick one? I have to admit, I love Car Talk. I also love This American Life, Le Show with Harry Shearer, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, and of course Sounds Eclectic.

What's your secret talent?

I have several not-so-secret talents - I'm a pretty good hip hop dancer, a decent singer, and have the amazing talent of finding the greatest friends, bars, and cheap eats in every city I've ever lived in.

What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?

Glimmer by aqualung is stuck in my head right now. Matt Hales said it is a hopeful song disguised as a hopeless song. It is beautiful, as are most of his songs.

Which station do you listen to most?

It used to be KCRW when I lived in LA, but i moved to DC a month ago, so now my dial doesn't stray from WAMU.
