Bio

I am currently the host of "In The Loop," a monthly program produced by Minnesota Public Radio that combines interviews, music, reporting and humor with a live audience. In The Loop has been a project of mine for more than two years; for much of that time I produced it on the side every few months, while I worked full-time as a business reporter for MPR. I have been with MPR since early 2001, when I began in the St. Cloud bureau. Prior to that, I wrote feature stories for the Asahi Evening News in Tokyo, and I graduated from Duke University in 1999.

"In The Loop" allows me to combine my two passions of journalism and music, sitting in with our house band on various instruments and performing a new original tune of my own to close out each show. What's your favorite public radio show?

Of course my heart lies with "In The Loop" at Minnesota Public Radio :-) But I'm also a fan of Re:Sound, TAL, The World, and On The Media. I've also just begun listening to the podcast of "The NOW Show" from the BBC.

What's your secret talent?

I have bizarrely stretchy skin. Fortunately, it snaps back into place. My wife does not like it when I exercise this hidden talent, so it is more secret than ever.

What sound is most characteristic of where you live?

My cat's incessant meow.

Which station do you listen to most?

KNOW -- though I've switched most of my radio listening over to podcast now
