Bio

With more than nine years of health care public relations experience, I manage wayfinding communications at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Also, I write and edit for various publications and facilitate special events. At the end of the workday, I brave a 90-minute commute to receive a hero’s welcome from my beautiful and talented wife, our infant daughter and a geriatric Rottweiler at our modest home in suburban Houston.

What's your secret talent?

If I tell you, then it won't remain secret. I can gargle "The Star-Spangled Banner."

What sound is most characteristic of where you live?

Road noise — i.e., the soul-crushing sound of commuter traffic

What's your favorite sound memory?

When I was eight months in utero, my parents saw the Ramsey Lewis Trio in concert. They sat in front near the drum kit. Each time the drummer would play a drum roll or a rimshot, I would flip-flop inside my mom. I grew up enjoying jazz, Ramsey Lewis in particular.
