State: NY
Bio: I'm an actor. For the past nine years (more or less), I've spent ten months out of each year living in hotel rooms and touring the US with plays. This season (06-07) alone, I will have played over 75 cities in 34 US states (plus some European gigs) to over 150,000 people. I've got lots to say about the experience.
What's your favorite public radio show?: Fresh Air with Terry Gross.
What's your secret talent?: Male pattern baldness.
What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?: Alabama 3's, "Woke Up This Morning." Sorry, I'm just really enjoying the Sopranos finale episodes.
What sound is most characteristic of where you live?: At home in Brooklyn: the grind of the garbage truck, the roar of the expressway, the taunts and jeers of the stickballers down the block. On the road: hotel room sounds like the gliss of the tv, the whirr of the climate control, and the endless dull rush of the interstate.
What's your favorite sound memory?: Cries of seagulls, ocean waves crashing, pan of chicken milanese crackling in the kitchen, mom playing the Tarantella on the out-of-tune piano in the living room, train whistle.
Which station do you listen to most?: At home: WNYC. On the road: Anything that doesn't preach.
